Yeah, the little moments in songs that are magical to a person are certainly worth talking about. And like, COBL, I never know the musical language to properly describe, I can just tell you the time it happens, etc.
Yeah, I'm not good at the technical musical terms and that sort of thing, either. Usually when I describe a song to someone, I do so using whatever images the song puts in my head or feelings I have when listening to it.
If a song can allow me to create vivid images in my head when I'm listening to it, allows me to make little pictures or scenes, that's pretty much a clincher in me loving that song/artist. I know some people are attracted to lyrics, some like the technical musical abilities of the musicians-and I do love and certainly appreciate those things, too. But the general atmosphere and imagery a song creates tends to be what hooks me right away most often.
That song is full of these little brilliant moments you were talking about.

Her voice is what bugs me the most on that song. It sounds raspy, but not in a natural sort of way, it's more like, "I'm just getting over a sore throat/cough" or something.
Yeah. Not one of her strongest songs, no.

I feel your pain. My old job was within walking distance of the only decent vinyl shop in town. My new job is over 10 miles away.
