Is it just me or did they switch actors for Loras Tyrell?

I thought he was the same person.

Speaking of which, my biggest complaints with the show is that he and Renly couldn't seem further from how they're described in the books. Neither are remotely believable physically as having been knights their entire lives. You think the show would have been a bit more picky about not having two actors who look like enormous pansies frolicking around shirtless, when the characters are supposed to be bad asses. Apparently HBO thought that since they'd decided to make them gay, they had to make them both pansies too.

I had a look at the actor's profile on imdb and I can sort of see it now...

As for badasses, Loras is not entirely how I pictured him but Renly is. He's supposed to be a younger, more handsome version of Robert but without the lust for battle or women (although its merely hinted at in the books).

That's my problem, he's described as looking like a young better looking Robert, and Robert was described as being an enormous man who was strong enough to wield a giant hammer in battle when he was young. There are a few times in the first book where they describe Renly as essentially being the epitome of what the Stark kids thought a knight would look like.

By the way, book question about their "relationship"...

They're never officially said to be gay in the books, right?

That's ridiculous, deep. My work revolves around reading so I don't have time for much pleasure reading. I do, however, have time to be entertained by an excellent TV series based on a book series. I am completely into GOT and I really don't care what I'm missing in the books because I will never get around to reading them.

I like hearing the comparisons with the book. In fact, I think I brought it up. I was just making the point that I am loving the series without reading the books.

Stannis is supposed to be dull. That's how he's written, apparently.

 I don't think Melissandre overshadows him near as much in the book. I thought the actor for Davos was Stannis at that first fire scene.

Anyway...nice touch with the sister/brother duo Greyjoy. And another score in the acting department with Brienne.
And finally, one of the best players moves on from being the Lord of Brothels. Bring on Littlefinger.

I hope the Daenerys story picks up some steam, and fast. I find they dealt with Jon Snow's story better in the series compared to her story.

And the best line so far goes to...Varys. "Big fish and little fish eat each other, and I paddle on."

the books aren't explicit about Renly/Loras at all. Was a surprise in the first season for many book readers.

Hopefully the perfect game euphoria was enough to keep GAF from being too disappointed when Tyrion halted the stripping of Sansa.

with so many different characters and stories going on, not (quite) enough happens to advance the stories

sometimes, I think I should wait and watch two episodes at a time.

If you would have told me Renly gets stabbed from behind in the opening scene, I would have assumed it would have been a mostly pleasant experience for him.

No comments on this?

I'm starting to get to the point with this show where I hate looking at the clock while the show is on, as I want each episode to keep going for another 2 or 3 hours.

:)

Holy shit, the kid who plays King Joffrey is 19 years old. I would never have thought he was that old. Would have guessed like 14 or 15.

Anyway. This show rules.

Best thing about this most recent episode was Arya vs. Tywin, though. That shit was dope.

Also, every time that Tyrion is on screen.
