A bright sunny morning in Dublin, the Friday of a holiday weekend. I have been into town and have my copy of the box set. FBI notice is on the back. I think Zooropa has been tweaked (but wouldn't swear to it) and Adam isn't one of the 16 prints.

Any other questions?

They kept that siren song after The Wanderer? (some versions do not have that)

Can you tell me the size of the super deluxe in cms, please?

It's about the same lenth and width as the Über Box, about 31cm each side, just obviously not as high, that's about 4 cm on the Super Deluxe and about 13 cm on the Über Box

Ok, those who have the box... TELL ME ABOUT THE LINER NOTES. Are there essays by famous people? Commentary by The Edge? Lyrics to both AB and Zooropa? Lyrics to the unreleased/bonus tracks? I'll find out for myself on Tuesday but I'm just curious.

Bands like Pink Floyd and the Beatles have been re releasing their old cds - forever, as time goes on, on top of that they re release their re released CDs

I was specifically talking about the "one wonders why they make new music" comment.

There's a letter in the liner notes from a guy named Jesus Christ about how Achtung Baby is his favorite album ever.

Adam Clayton was on BBC Radio 6 this morning talking about Achtung Baby. I've uploaded a copy of the interview:

Note: This is a cut version and omits playback of Blow Your house Down and Acrobat. I do have the full version but it's not essential. (PM).

The more I listen to "Baby" I think there are more than just vocal overdubs. "Trying to throw" sounds like a Salome outtake with a whole new guitar overdubed and vocals. Plus that is exactly what U2 would do to an old track.

Unless Dec Gaffney worked for U2 as a child already, some of the "Kindergarten" and Outtakes got some new treatment - which would back up what you're suggesting.

The Super Deluxe Box arrived one hour ago. Listening to the Kindergarten cd right now. Baby Wild Horses is mindblowing!

Hi, actually in the "complete salomé", the full 7 CD version there is an early version of tryin' to throw that is similar to this, although it seems even more primitive. You can hear Bono improvising tentative lyrics over the same track as used in this version, with Lanois and Edge trying out ideas too. It's very roughly recorded, though. When they played live in the 90s the Edge would also play a bit the guitar riff from the instrumental track in the Salomé.

So my best guess is that baby TTTYAATW is an evolved version from that rough sketch and has no overdubs, but who knows?

Certainly if Declan Gaffney has been involved at the very least some new mixing has taken place. Can't wait to actually read the credits!

He's credited for additional recording and mixing for Baby Trying to throw.
Mixing credits for him on Baby Love is blindness

On Blow you house down he's credited for Additional Production and recording and also mixing.

Heaven and hell has him in additional production and recording. Also mixing and backing vocals

Oh berlin: Backing vocals, keyboards, additional production and recording +mixing.

And of course he's behind the real thing remix.

Pretty cool that the phrase "a different kind of blue" shows up in Baby WGRYWH, that line must've been bouncing around in Bono's head for awhile before Passengers

Wow, so Chrisedge was right with regards to Trying to throw, it does have overdubs!

I have to say I like Declan Gaffney's mix of baby Love is blidness is outstanding, I could have sworn the mix had been made by Achtung-era Lanois, it has that great spacious feeling. I hope he will be involved in the new album...

"Baby" Love Is Blindness sound a lot like Nights In White Satin by The Moody Blues.

Kindergarten is like a new album, really brilliant, best thing I have heard in a long time.
