We believe a high-definition film scan of The Next Generation is very likely in the cards for the entire series run, along with the requisite digitally-upgraded effects. Of course, in addition to syndication and streaming, the end result of all this might be a Next Generation: Remastered Blu-ray release down the line.

Precum activated, Captain.
There are obviously major challenges as, while the show was shot on film, all the effects and post production was done on SD analog video. So (in our opinion) in order to convert the series to HD and really do it right, all the original camera negatives would have to be scanned in HD resolution, and then all of the special effects and post production would have to be completely redone in HD via a similar CG upgrade process as was done with the remastered Star Trek: The Original Series. You'd basically have to rebuild each episode for HD. At least we HOPE that's what they'd do, because if they just simply digitally upconverted from 480i to 1080p, there's NOBODY who would want to buy that on Blu-ray. But rebuilding the show in HD is obviously a time consuming and expensive process. Nevertheless, Citters told the crowd at the Con, "It is being worked on and I expect it will happen, it is just a technical challenge."
As unlikely as it may seem, a recently released pornographic parody of Star Trek: The Next Generation is an astonishingly good, big budget fan-film based on the classic television series. Featuring impressively faithful recreations of the sets, costumes an even technology seen in the original Gene Roddenberry show, writer and director Sam Hein puts forth a wholly acceptable plot in which Lt. Tasha Yar returns to the Enterprise alive and well, and in such a way that is completely in keeping with established Star Trek continuity.
While this has something to do with comics only by the thinnest possible stretch of the imagination, I was so taken aback by The Thumbcast's shockingly decent version of the film, which cuts out all the sex, that I felt compelled to pitch it as a feature to ComicsAlliance Captain Laura Hudson, who inspected the material and replied, "Make it so."
The following 25-minute film has been edited to be SAFE FOR WORK. There is no sex on the Enterprise. No sex.

Biggest wimp in the Star Trek cinematic universe:
Will Decker
That would be an understatement, yeah. Not only is the film slow (and for me to call something slow takes a lot, I'm a patient viewer) but they completely ignored the humor that was such a staple of the original series. Such a debacle after so much hype (I saw the film opening weekend). Thank god the studio gave it another shot.
It's true, Shatner's never been better than in that film.
I'm a huge dork so my words have to be taken with a grain of salt as it pertains to II but it's hard to find a better action film than that.....life/death/aging, action, revenge, regret, family, friendship all explored to some extent, as well as those great lines that we sort of laugh at now but are still pretty cool when viewed in context. Not to mention Kirk ordering Reliant to lower her fucking shields.
You know, in retrospect, you can't say that Khan wasn't trying very hard to find the override. "A" for effort.
Good points re: the Motionless picture. The last time I re-watched it, I did think to myself that some of the scenes were 2001-esque, but without he majesty or realism, even.
I think Shatner is great in Khan and pretty damned good in IV and VI.

The bug-eyed look he gives combined with the music cue kills me every time.
I was at a comic con last year, and I had to vigorously convince a friend of mine not to go up to Walter Koenig and say, "You didn't expect to find me here . . . You thought this was . . . Ceti Alpha VI . . . ahhh."
If I saw Spiner I'd tell him how awesome he was in The Aviator cos that's how I do.
I've never been to a convention, though, outside of baseball card conventions as a kid.
I saw Koenig once at a convention, too. Tired is a pretty apt description.
