Which singer wrote a song about heroin without ever having tried the drug?
Man your arguments are getting weaker and weaker each and everyday.

Btw, I didn't even know who that guy was before I came into this tread
Btw, I didn't even know who that guy was before I came into this tread, so my interest in what he has to say about Bono and U2 is exactly zero.
That's just rude.
You can think this, but to post it?
Which singer wrote a song about heroin without ever having tried the drug?
Which basically means you know little about rock and roll music...
You're probably right. I sometimes think U2 fans shoot themselves in the foot with statements like this, though. "I've never heard of any rock and roll people except Bono, but I have an opinion about how great U2 are" isn't really a sound position from which to gain respect.
But I was rude. Sorry Unicorn.
I respect the guy for his punk icon-status but seriously, who gives a flying fuck about PIL?? I bet you noone else my age (21) has heard of them. The guy is just a joke after selling out on I'm a Celebrity and Country Life.
Mikey,
read the background on the Celebrity thing before you judge.
Yes, he is a publicity whore. But no more than Bono.
When has Bono made a commercial for something other than the band's music?
no life experience? that's fucken rich.

But it did promote their tour and their music as well
It's hard to find a tie in with butter.
Anyone who's offended, just take comfort in the fact that John Lydon hates EVERYONE!!!! That's his thing. But with that being said, I love the bitter old fuck. He's hilarious, really witty and intelligent (just look up any interviews with him on youtube for proof of that), and the guy, whether you like it or not, was extremely influential. So he doesn't like U2. Wow, shock of the century.
The Sex Pistols were pretty much just Malcom MacLaren's version of The Monkees. Without a TV show, but they were manufactured to cash in on the punk craze.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
I think it's great if the album is remembered well and people love it (don't care for it myself). But I think it's worth remembering that they were still a "manufactured" band.
MacLaren's influence over the music was pretty much zero. Never Mind The Bollocks is one of the greatest albums of all time, one of the top 100 at least. don't think The Monkees have one of those. PIL's Metal Box album is up there too.
... and I LIKE the Monkees!
I honestly do think a good chunk of their music is better than they get credit for.
