September 13 - Chicago Soldier Field

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I'll e-mail it to you this week. I plan to be on the computer a lot this week--a lot of blogging to do, a lot of reliving of the concert too. But not tonight--tonight's its all about sleep. I still have to drive home from work this afternoon--another hour and a half on the road before I can collapse into bed. Pray I make it home safe!

Yeah you had quite a drive!

We got in bed around 6am this morning. Had to stop several times (missed exit, tolls taking ages, flat tire multiple times....you name it, it happened!).

I was talking to my friend (the one standing next to me on my left) about how today at work when I was walking to the cafe to get food, I saw all these students and staff with such somber faces, and I look like a zombie with a huge grin on my face. I feel like how the disciples feel after meeting with Jesus, wanted to run out and tell everyone what they saw and heard. OK maybe that is a bit much/blasphemous, but that's the euphoria I get after a great show, I'm still on Cloud 9 and don't understand why everyone else isn't running off to get in the next GA line!!!

Posted this in the gatherings section but seemed better here

Just got home and had an amazing time. First night was good second night was great. Observations
1. Walked in to GA at 5PM and hung around the soundboard for a while then ventured up closer and got a great spot right outside the RZ on Adam's side.
2. The GA area outside looked like a war zone.
3. Two homeless guys were making a killing on all the discarded chairs, blankets, umbrella's and anything else they could get their hands on. So know that if your stuff was no longer there it went to a good cause. Same guys the second night the amount of stuff they collected was insane. Very friendly though
4. Second night seats in 141 - seemed like a whole fan club section which was nice to be around a bunch of other dorks that freaked when YBR was played and knew all the songs to the new album
5. Outside the hotel was crazy on Saturday - almost dangerous.

That's pretty shitty that those guys did that. At one point, around our area people were moving forward so it left a big hole and the people that were roped off on the other side had to deal with people cutting. We were towards the restrooms and this older couple just entered the line. One guy was so mad that he started yelling at them. The woman was like whatever, rolled her eyes and didn't think it was a big deal. He tried to get security to kick them out but it didn't happen. At least afterwards they kept people from going in anymore.

I was in the 2nd row during the lineup for the ropes. Those guys were a huge bitch to deal with, especially after everyone was staring at us and giving use the nastiest faces.

Another thing that really got to me were that these two women were in line in GA and they weren't even suppose to be in there because they were told to be in line to exchange tickets because one of the girls had a back problem. So they were in front of us and they told us not to run because the other lady had a back problem. So then we fixed the problem by going next to them since there was room and then they yelled at us for being in front of them. So a lady who told us she has back problems and told us not to push (which we never did) then yells at us even though it wouldn't make a difference to her because shes not going to GA. That's a load of shit for just a reason to yell at someone. She's lucky me and my friends are respectful 16 year olds because I would of told her what I really thought.

Besides those problems in GA, the wait between snow patrol and U2 was long but what ever. I wasn't into SP before the concert but I thought tey were pretty good so I enjoyed that.

After U2 hit the stage, I forgot about everything and sang every line with them. (Well until the lady next to us started puking)

If you have health problems just hang in the back/get seats.

Saw a women plead with security in the red shirts to get into the red zone on Adam's side b/c of a bad hip. She got to sit near the leg of the claw for the opening act and then was told to move by U2's crew as they needed the area to produce the show. Well, woman made a full-on scene screaming that the red shirt security said she could be there and had to be physically removed from the area. However she got to stay in the red zone where I saw her trying to talk some ppl out of their seats in the RZ. It did provide some entertainment btw SP and U2 but so ticked me off when I know for a fact that the RZ auction ended above 300

if she was wearing a (RED) shirt, most likely to be the same girl that screamed at my friends and I.

If you have a health problem that would limit doing GA, then get in back or go do seats.

anyone who was in the tunnel for the last hour, na na na na heyyy heyy heyy good byyee

Well stated -- That about sums it up!!

I was on Edges side along back rail of the inner cirle I will post a few pictures I took tommorow just got home great show:applaud::applaud:

GA line was a joke one security guard with a megaphone policing the entire line. "After 4:15 you can not leave the line" then @4;15 there is no security watching the line why announce it if you are not going the inforce the policy?

I was very happy with our seats for night 2, had been a little worried about how the sound would be in the upper section (445) but it was great, no problem with echoes or anything. The people around us were fairly mellow, the people directly behind us and most of those around us were sitting almost the whole time but we just ignored them and jammed. I screamed like an idiot when YBR started playing, got some strange looks LOL.

Loved hearing Stay, Amazing Grace, and YBR. A little disappointed that the laser suit did not show well in our area during UV, but it was amazing to see all the effects of the Claw and screens that we missed being front rail on Sat night.

Had to head back to MI right after the show, got to bed about 5am

camera phone

Re: the camera talk. It's funny - I feel the same away about the cameras at shows, and yet I brought mine to take a couple.

I definitely ended up taking more than I had planned on, so found myself getting more caught up in that than I wanted to, so maybe next time I'll just leave it behind (har har).

I still felt like I had a hell of a time both nights (particularly the second night, where I was spazzing out like an insane-o in the back of the floor), so I still got to "live" it and not just take a bazillion bad pictures. :)

I'm more irritated by people who sit there and fiddle with their phones like the two women in front of me Saturday night. They sat there on Facebook and checking email through half the show, and the other half had their heads together yelling into each other's ears and blocking my view.

Obviously, this is the way concerts are now - we text our other U2 fan friends and twitter the setlists - that doesn't bug me (and I did my share of it Sunday night), but why go to a concert and then browse the internet or spend 5 minutes trying to find that iPhone app that's just a picture of a goddamn lit lighter?

thanks chuck. tps can i see the rest of your pics? fbook?

yeahhh that pissed me off. every single person in front of me had their cameras out the WHOLE time. during every single song, every single second. i could barely enjoy the show with cameras in my way. like seriously. take some pics put it away and repeat.

never in my life seen so many people get their pictures taken in front of a concert stage before....but this claw is no other stage.

here's mine:

Well, maybe the people that had those cameras out, and shot the whole concert in HD, so you can download it later.

Or how many of you complaining have watched the YouTube clips?

Seriously one of the best shows ever! Highlight of the night for me was Stay :hyper: if only because it's my favorite song ever and the song that made me a U2 fan. Of course having Bono and Edge walk past my about 4-5 times was pretty sweet too! I had GA for this show, I was in the inner circle (or whatever you want to call it) on the back rail on Edge's side. I don't know if I'll ever do a seat for a U2 show ever again. The only downer on the night was one of the security guys told me I had to stop recording. Even though others around me were doing it. Oh well, still just an awesome show. And unlike night 1, there was some organization leaving. I left after WOWY due to what happened the night before. I'm not sure why they were not more organized for night one. They knew how many people were going to be there.

I haven't watched the clips, and I'm complaining.

When I go to a show, I like to see the show, not the camera of the person in front of me so I can watch the show later in HD. I'm at the show, don't need a recording.

It's seriously fucking annoying.

joyfulgirl and I attempted pictures of each other in front of the claw, but had some amount of phail trying to get the claw in the picture. Here's a total dork me:

Let me be clear:

Everyone should bring a camera, snap some photos, etc. That's normal and nothing new.

It's the people that stand there the whole show with their camera up that boggles the mind.

I know I would love to line up all day or spend exorbitant amounts of money on seats and see the show through a camera lense.

some people waste their entire day in a GA line
some people watch the show through an LCD screen

to each their own...agree?
