What do you think?

I think that they should play live with them for the songs they have songwriting credits for on the new album.

As long as they were not "featured" out front it would work for me and I think they deserve it if they helped come up with it.

Plus there would be no mystery keyboard player under the stage ;]

I'd actually prefer if Eno & Lanois came onstage for the songs in which they played on the album. Watching Lanois live is truly watching a creative force at work.

Good point, I have to agree.
I want to see Danny live someday, and why not take them on tour this time. :)
Probably won't happen as other's said but I can at least see Danny join U2 onstage in Toronto or New York one night.

I wouldn't mind that happening, Lanois did that once or twice last tour didn't he? I'm not all that sure that Eno would be interested in such a commitment though.

isn't it opening Pandora's Box? Eventually, it'll be like the Stones with 20 different musicians on stage (Eno, Lanois, and then a percussion section, horns, and string section).

Plus, I like mystery keyboardists under the stage.:sexywink:

:drool:I recommended that a couple years back.... when talking bout the next tour. Imagine... they could play songs like "Your Blue Room".....

:yes:That's what happened with Lovetown, playing with BB Kings band made U2 feel a little bloated. ZOO TV was a reaction to that in some ways, the group wanted to strip it back to the taut and tight simplicity of four guys playing music together on stage.

well that may have been the illusion but the reality of the music was quite the opposite. actually, zoo tv was probably the least simple thing in the history of live shows- at least up until that time.

ZooTV was simple?

Well the concept of ZOO TV wasn't simple but I do remember reading somewhere that the band wanted to get away from performing with additional musicians and return to the tighter economy of 4 guys playing together on stage.

Eh.....I really don't have an opinion on it to be honest.

I guess it would be okay. Hell, if they can have Dallas UNDER the stage playing a second guitar part they could have someone else ON the stage, right?

Brian and Danny are the only other musicians that I wouldn't have a problem with seeing tour with the band. But Danny probably wouldn't, and there's no chance in hell Brian would.

I saw Lanois live in Nova Scotia a few months back (October) and he was absolutely amazing. Hands down, one of the best shows I have ever seen. Got a chance to meet him as well, very nice guy.

Back in Toronto during Vertigo Lanois played with the boys a couple of nights. I was lucky enough to be there as well. There was certainly a synergy going on. I would love it if they went on tour this time around.

Do you think they've always used a keyboard player and guitarist under the stage? I thought that they've used backing tracks and squencing a lot more.

Seeing The 2 with Lanois and Eno would be awesome. It would be especially cool to see The Edge playing with Lanois - both excellent guitarists. What are the chances though? I read somewhere that Lanois is touring in September anyway at which point The 2 will be in N. America or Europe.

I can't believe I am reading this!

OK, so Lanois and Eno have done some amazing work with the band, and go back a long way. But they're not in the band! Why would they go on tour with them?!

What next, Eno plays keyboards on stage with Coldplay?!

They're producers, simple as that, they're not in the band.

I wouldnt mind that.. its better than hiding people under the stage. Or using samples.
Instead we can see it all!

OK, how about they have Eno and Lanois in a filmed shot from Fez, and play it each night, similar to Lou Reed in ZooTV..?!

:D
