Just got an e-mail about an event for an interfaith memorial for the victims sometime in the near future, and at the end of the e-mail it asked us not to share details of the event on social media, and to RSVP so they can add our names to a list that will be given to security. This just got me so depressed.

A local Jewish Synagogue hosted an interfaith prayer night on Monday night. It was advertised on Facebook. My wife and I went, and kind of wondered how well attended it would be. Traffic was backed up for 10 minutes getting off the off ramp (just to be clear to those on the coast who laugh at 10 minute delays - we NEVER have traffic delays here). The place was PACKED. The huge parking lot was full, and basically every neighborhood street in a 3 block radius around the synagogue was lined with cars. The sanctuary and social hall were packed to standing room only. I have no idea how many turned out exactly, but it was a massive community gathering. Leaders from various Christian denominations - along with several rabbis and representatives from a couple local mosques all spoke. It felt powerful and like the exact kind of response I wish our President and his party were capable of giving.

That's beautiful, Diemen. I'm glad so many turned out and gave the people there the kind of love and support they needed. It's stories like that that give me some much needed hope.

Twelve dead in the CA bar shooting, more than a dozen injured. The dead include a 29 year veteran of the sheriff's department. It was a country music college night.

There was a man on CNN who can't find his 22 year old son who was there. He tracked his phone using an app and the phone is in the club. It was so heartbreaking to listen to that I just can't even say. I'm so sick of this, and it's never going to stop. The morons supposedly representing us won't do anything about it. And the ones who try to do something are obstructed at every turn.

Among the dead , a good guy with a gun. The victims are all young adults. The 2nd amendment can go to hell.

Let's just trick the right and tell them that the 2nd amendment actually gives citizenship to brown people.

Even if you rid of it. Removing every gun in America is not going to go well. Would everybody that owned immediately become a criminal?

Oh for fucks sake. Like you actually think that's what anyone would advocate for. People are dead, get your grandstanding out of here for at least a day, please. What a pathetic attempt, at that.

It’s not an overnight thing. It’s not even a change for a decade. That’s generational.

Accepting a process that could take 20-30-40-50 years to fully implement is still progress. Gun buyback programs. Antiquitization of certain classes of firearms. Grandfathering programs. Remote lock and key programs for sporting.

You're right, this country is too far gone. I knew it when 20 6 year olds were massacred and we did nothing. We deserve what we get.

I still get angry to the point that I need to take a walk to calm down whenever I think of Newtown.

Sorry, I'm new. It just seemed like cursing out a whole amendment doesn't move the ball forward for safety.

I'll lay low

We tax the shit out of tobacco.

Tax the shit out of guns and ammo. Use the revenue to fund training, education and buy back programs.

Ban expanded magazines and modifications that increase fire rate.

Require nationwide licensing for all gun owners.

Close the gun show loop holes.

Allow victims to sue the manufacturers.

This isn't hard.

I know the feeling.

This is the second mass shooting in about two weeks' or so time. Just gonna point that out, too.

Seriously, whenever we get our next Democratic president, and a Democratic majority in Congress, they need to go all in on passing as much gun control legislation as they possibly can. If the anti-gun control crowd doesn't like it, tough shit. Really well past the point of caring or wanting to cater to them. Our allies managed to figure this shit out ages ago, so we should be able to do the same.

There were apparently 50 or so survivors of Las Vegas at this bar last night. Some didn't make it home.
