USA! USA! USA!

I've now got my tickets in the Apple wallet but there's no QR code or anything on them? First time I've seen that before with e-tickets... Or is there some magick at play here I can't see?

Your phone will leverage the built in NFC chip to validate the ticket at point of entry.

Now SPIN THAT WHEEL!

Thanks! I guess it’s Roulette & poker time! Vegas Baby!

One more stinking day of stinking work then I’m on my way.

Having watched a YouTube playback the band are on really good form and the shows will get better. Edge’s playing is career best at times. All of the guitar work on the Achtung Baby songs is up there with ZooTv era if not better. Bono has clearly got in shape for the shows and looks and sounds awesome for 62. He didn’t seem to struggle with his range.

I could see Larry coming back for at least of pair of shows so it can be filmed with the full lineup before heading out on a full tour.

If they extend their "residency" in Vegas, and that's a big IF, i'd put money on them not touring until 2025/26.

Just listened to the new U Talkin’ U2 To Me episode, and Adam & Scott went to an afterparty inside the Sphere with other VIPs. According to them, a band rep told them that U2 retains the rights to all the imagery used in the show, and that they would be talking it on the road in the future, with Larry. Doesn’t sound like something easily misheard.

The guys seemed to be confused as to how this would translate to a stadium/arena setup, and I am as well, about this and other things—why they would do *another* nostalgic album tour when they are supposedly busy working on new material.

Grain of salt of course, and why someone would blurt that out to two “randoms” (relatively) is beyond me.

Anyway, I just stumbled upon a multicam video boot of opening night, for anyone interested:

I could see them adapting some imagery for any repeated songs later on. Adam & Scott have said some confusing and outright wrong things before.

Yes I can see them owning and retaining the imagery, that's a smart business move on their part. It could be used for AB songs on a post new album tour if they ever get back to one, or for new songs. I don't see the imagery being strictly tied to this LV UV show.

[/SPOILER]

I believe the info from the band rep was secondhand from a friend of theirs (Elizabeth Banks I think?), and it seemed to be that the idea the imagery would be taken on the road was more like speculation from the person they heard this info from, that they were then taking as gospel. The guys didn't seem super up to date on the current band rumors so I wouldn't necessarily trust them as a source for insider info since things are being filtered through an unknowledgeable perspective.

In Apple Wallet it looks like the ones i've used at other shows. it's black with the concert info and below is a moving Hold Near Reader NFC thing as devaul said I think...

But if I go to my ticketmaster app I see my ticket is blue and lets me hit view barcode which shows the moving barcode that says screenshots won't et you in and is the color scheme of the show, purple and pink.

So I'll assume one of those 2 will work

Random stat of the day is that I happened to remember U2 had about 20 million Spotify monthly listeners a week ago and now they’re at 21 million.

Being the Sphere opening’s act is the best, most effective PR they’ve had since the Vertigo iPod commercial.

That…doesn’t sound like a big increase?

Also, how many monthly listeners do other big rock bands have? The Stones, Chili Peppers, Metallica, Coldplay?

I mean 5% increase in 5 days isn’t exactly nothing! It’s not a number that I’ve found anecdotally tends to shift around all that much, particularly for a legacy band like U2. Anyways, a positive bump regardless.

For the spoiler-free folks…there are spoilers, so I wouldn’t watch it just yet.

Zane’s reactions are probably going to be my reactions when I see the damn thing for the first time.

I've arrived, and Vegas remains how I remembered it -- something to see, but really not for me.

We may do something insane tonight and get last minute Adele tickets, but then I do have a mortgage to pay.
