3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I walked from Venetian. It's a long walk when going outside since Venetian and Palazzo are absolutely massive properties. The pedestrian bridge should be open for concerts and that's definitely the way to go. Just cut through the casino towards the convention center.

Walking back I took the back roads back to Linq. Was a little shorter, but I wouldn't want to do that at night. Maybe after the concert there will be a ton of people walking back there but otherwise it's fairly empty.Wide sitter size confirmed.

About long was the walk from the Venetian lobby to the bridge? Trying to figure out if we should just get dropped off at Venetian and walk, or try to get dropped off outside wherever the Uber drop off is. Thanks! And loving your pics making me so excited for tomorrow, I don’t arrive until tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile the jew (me) tips when I pickup takeout food and had to drive in the rain.

She turned the screen and actually told me that tipping was an option. I said thanks, hit no tip, and went on my merry way.

Sounds like Clerks is going to lose his tribe membership, whereas Headache might be eligible for honorary status.

Let me confer with the elders (NSW).

10 minutes maybe? Maybe less?

Venetian and Palazzo are huge properties. I honestly haven't spent a lot of time there in my previous vegas trips so as much as I knew the properties were huge it still took me a bit by surprise.

I got to where the convention center was fairly quickly. Bridge was closed. But getting out of the place and then walking around to the Sphere took a solid 20-30 minutes.

Great thanks so much for the info - I’ve stayed at both properties but that was more than a decade ago and I can’t remember how big they are - everything in Vegas is way more of a walk than it seems!! on my way to Coldplay right now then U2 for 2 nights - I may possibly be too old for this but that’s never stopped me! Lol

Aople Music interview has a quick view of the stage from the 400s

Remember what happens in Atomic City, stays in Atomic City.

Omg. Not for me.

Don’t get me wrong - it’s a true nosebleed view. That’s also likely at or behind the last row. But once the screen is on, scale probably gets funny. In a stadium at that distance, you’re watching the screens anyway. The difference here is, due to scale, the screen will not feel as far away as the band.

Oh I figured you were being sarcastic, no worries there.

Can’t imagine being up at 6am after a day+ of check-ins for a tiny GA where being up close isn’t ideal. I am curious how many numbered wristbands they’ll actually hand out - will they have X amount or just stop handing them out at a certain time of day? That’ll determine if I bother swinging by earlier in the day or not.

I’m saying at any stadium that’s too high. But with that angle I won’t be able to handle it. Some sensitive people like me will have issues.

Barclays Center in Brooklyn has some of the steepest upper deck I’ve ever seen. I stood for one show there and, yeah, not great. The new Islanders arena, however, has two sections of steep uppers but they’re not super-deep in terms of row count so it’s very manageable and tolerable.

This being a newer building, I would hope the rake is well thought out. Will wait for reports tmw AM to see if anyone played 400s roulette and landed on Headache.

My wife would definitely not want to be up there for same reason (as well as not seeing the band well).
So instead, I just have to find a way to get her vertically challenged self a decent view in GA.

TD Garden (the former Hewson Headache center) in Boston is same. They built while the old Boston Garden was still standing so had to shrink the footprint a bit and made the rise in the balcony steeper as a result. Saw the Stones from there shortly after it opened (No Security tour in 99) and my wife (see above post) wouldn't/couldn't stand cause of how steep the incline was, felt like she would fall over.
I have since refused to buy any tickets for any concert or game in the balcony (did go to one Celts game up their where someone else bought the tix).

Stage looks to be about 6 ft tall and Bono adds another, what, 4? So you should be ok as long as you aren’t behind a bunch of tall folks. Wondering if the floor will have some gradual slope (it *should*).

I don’t mind the steep, just hope my girlfriend (who gets dizzy sometimes) can handle it. Almost got a front row 400 seat for a Friday but ended up going with a third row seat on a Saturday, which was just more convenient. Ideally the handful of people in front of us will be sitting down and I won’t have anything to worry about.
