TUF is on a greatest hits, so is Miss Sarajevo, and HMTMKMKM.

Now you're getting way too nitpicky - this is U2. Half of their catalogue is on a greatest hits!

Obviously, I exaggerate, but unless you're new to being a U2 fan, you shouldn't be that surprised that they're not big on throwing "deep cuts" around during shows.

But I know, you're bummed. It's okay. You'll get through this.

 I can't imagine Larry would ever give up his seat to a pulled-from-the-crowd drummer.

I believe we'd all see him mouth "FUCK OFF."

actually he did at one of the Vertigo shows in LA for the girl band Exit who got on stage and did Out of Control. It was awesome I was there. All the girl band members took over with Larry and Adam and Edge sitting down and Bono at one point singing with the lead singer of that band.. If i weren't at work I would find the youtube vid..

Just for you :sexywink:

:hyper: . . . it better still be there in OZ or you'll see me all Miss Piggy like on their asses

The setlist isn't half as bad as people are making out... First, there's no WAY they'd play the dream fanlist that we all have, you're not going to get Stateless, Gone, Gloria, Mofo, Super Duper Adam in a kingdom of Fire mixed with Larry and a spinning head...

Super Duper Adam...fire...spinning head...:combust:

Yep, my mind's gone again. :shifty:

maybe bono announced to the crowd the name of the new song...it would be amazing if we had the correct title.

Final Setlist:

1. Beautiful Day
2. Magnificent
3. Get On Your Boots
4. Mysterious Ways
5. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
6. The Flowering Rose of Glastonbury
7. Elevation
8. In A Little While
9. Miss Sarajevo
10. Until The End Of The World
11. The Unforgettable Fire
12. City Of Blinding Lights
13. Vertigo
14. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight / Discothèque (snippet)
15. Sunday Bloody Sunday
16. MLK
17. Walk On / You'll Never Walk Alone (snippet)
--encore break--
18. One
19. Amazing Grace (snippet) / Where The Streets Have No Name
--encore break--
20. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
21. With or Without You
22. Moment of Surrender

okay, well I know what I will not be doing on Friday!

thanks for the set list, this made my day a lot easier.

Just checking to drop off my .02 cents.

I am sure that U2 won't stick to this setlist until October 8th on the last show. And I'm certainly sure that U2 won't do this same setlist in 2011 in North America. This is probably Setlist A and we'll see several setlists on this tour much like we did last year. If you go back and look you'll notice how many little & big tweaks there were.

There's quite a few cities that have 2 shows, so I'm sure that U2 will mix it up like people have been saying. They'll probably even mix it up in between shows. U2 has plenty of options to choose from here.

Just because U2 didn't rehearse Breathe, NLOTH & Ultraviolet doesn't mean that they are completely gone in their minds. They can drop HM,TM,KM,KM on a Night 1 then play UV instead like last year. Or drop WOWY on a Night 2 and play both HM,TM & UV. Just like they can swap out IALW with TTTYAATW. And they can also push BD back down to make room for a Breathe opener. Or drop IALW for For Your Love. Anything is possible on this tour. It's only a dress rehearsal. We can come back here on October 8th and see who was right about where the setlists will go.

Have faith. U2 still wants to sell tickets in the internet age. If word gets out that they are even more flexible with their setlist, they will sell out more shows and may make them add some shows next year in places like Boston.

U2 surprised me last year with their flexibility. I expect even more this year and next because of his back surgery that put things up in the air.

Kristofor

Edit: This may hold the record for a single post with the word setlists used the most. LOL

To break this down a bit statistically:

Nineteen songs on this set were played in Norman/Phoenix/Las Vegas/Pasadena/Vancouver. Three songs were added (Flowering Rose, Miss Sarajevo, HMTMKMKM); five were dropped (Breathe, NLOTH, Unknown Caller, Stuck in a Moment, Ultraviolet).

Breakdown by album:
No Line on the Horizon: 4
All That You Can't Leave Behind: 4
Achtung Baby: 3
The Joshua Thee: 3
The Unforgettable Fire: 2
How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb: 2
War: 1
Original Soundtracks 1: 1
Non-Album Tracks: 1
Unreleased Tracks: 1
4 songs from ATYCLB and no Zooropa or Pop. That's just plain sad.

Well, I guess I'll have to live with that.

I gotta fly away and do that real life thing . . . am loving that if this is the timing for the Euro leg I should get all the shows in before I have to leave at 7:30am . . . got 6 minutes to spare . . . sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :cute:

GG, again . . . big fat  and  for putting together a dynamite set list thread . . .

catch you all on Friday afternoon/night (your time) - Sat morn mine :hyper:

Yeah outside of HMTM this new setlist is a step in the wrong direction for me. But i'm happy most everyone else seems excited about it. I'll just keep my fingers crossed they make some better changes by the time they come to NA again.

This:up:

Come on, U2, you are much better than this.

Anyone notice the ATYCLB overload is still there?

We are now opening with an ATYCLB song!

Yes, BD should make every show, its a spectacular song.

But opening with an oldie, they should do Streets or Zoo Station or Until The End of The World or Desire.

This is scary, but lets do a little numbers comparison:

Beautiful Day, In A Little While, Elevation and Walk On.

Thats 4 from ATYCLB.

Get On Your Boots, Magnificent, Crazy Tonight and Moment of Surrender.

Thats 4 from NLOTH.

This should not be.

ATYCLB is not a stadium album.

Beautiful Day and In A Little While are good enough. They don't need Elevation or Walk On.

I am still holding out hope that the Gone reports were true, that they are still considering TTTYAATW and that maybe they have rehearsed other songs inside or in the last couple of weeks that we haven't heard about.

This set still lacks rock and roll songs and still lacks 80s live classics, and to a glaring extent!

Gone
Exit
In God's Country
Bad
Two Hearts Beat As One
I Will Follow
Even Better Than The Real Thing
Last Night On Earth
MOFO
A Sort of Homecoming
11 O'Clock Tick Tock

LETS GO U2!! Wake up!

HMTMKM is welcome as hell, but don't swap it with the best song on the list, keep ATYCLB all in tact and drop the high energy NLOTH and call it an improvement.

I love TUF as much as anyone, but UV went down much better and Bono was much more consistent with the vocals on it. That should have gone before UV.

On a positive note, I am always, always, always happy when U2 is touring and especially given Bono's injury and the difficulties that came as a result. I still always have faith that they could surprise us(ES last yr) and I also think that maybe the conservative, stick to 2009 set list may only be temporary until they get their footing back/see where Bono is at.

I know they have it in them, one need only look at the diversity of the Vertigo set lists, the TUF and UV performances in 2009 and the adding of HMTMKMKM and new songs this year. They just need to step it up a notch, and GET RID OF THE DAMN ATYCLB ALREADY!

AND WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH NO LINE ON THE HORIZON LIVE? IT WAS AWESOME EVERY TIME THEY PLAYED IT!

I don't consider that a song played. I pretty much follow Axver's style of recording setlists, which does not include PA tracks on the setlist.

So the new rock song wasn't performed in the full set rehearsal. Interesting. I hope it reemerges as the opener.

It was - that's The Flowering Rose of Glastonbury. Unless there's a third song, as some people speculate... in which case, I'm just confused.

 Well said, but then, I'll enjoy anything they play, so I'm probably useless at these debates :sexywink:

Me at a gig: OMG BEAUTIFUL DAY!!! OMG IN A LITTLE WHILE>>>:love: *RIOT*

Me at a setlist party: OMG STREEETS!! OMFG Bono is speaking! OMG ONE!!

^ like I'm in shock that they actually play anything, I probably need locked up :reject:

All of you people complaining seem to forget that the Friday show (IF that actually is the final setlist) is not the only show they'll play this tour, there will still be changes. This whining even before the tour starts is really painful (again). It's not a hardcore fan wishlist. It's a good set. I'm disappointed as well that they dropped NLOTH and Breathe and UC, and I don't know why Soon wasn't played, but theres a brand new song and possilby another new song (slow one) being added, so that's really something. Miss Sarajevo is beautiful, can't wait to hear that one. Not happy with the new intro, but well, I'll get used to it. Once I see the guys in concert, all the complaints will be forgotten. And something tells me 22 songs isn't the final set, there are still 1 or 2 spots open. Stop the drama, please, all this negativity is unhealthy, just enjoy the tour. I'm so glad I'm going to Germany this weekend and don't have to put up with the setlist drama.

Oh ok. I was confused I thought the Glasto song was the slow one.

Well, I guess I'll have to live with that.

 We need to be ditching the ATYCLB songs in favor of Zooropa and Pop ones.

The Claw begs to be used. What better way to do it than to do what the ZooTv and Pop eras did? Take everything we knew, flip it, and shove it down our throats? Pop was loathed at first, now we crave it.

I was never a fan of ATYCLB, and pretty much ignored the band during Elevation. Call me a bad fan, whatever. The sad truth is, that is more an arena-style type of album than a stadium one. Songs like Zoo Station, NUMB, Zooropa, Stay, Discotheque, MOFO...they beg for life on that Claw. And I have faith that if I scream loud enough, somehow, my lads will hear it.

(And yes, Adam. I heard MW. I love you for it. Don't ever take it from me.)
/end slight rant and random babbling.

Makes me laugh when people come out with comments like "come on U2 your better than this" basically saying that because they are not playing some songs YOU like then it makes for a bad setlist for EVERYONE, and i find it strange that people cannot grasp that there will be alot of casual people at the shows,

also are we 100% sure that the new intro is in fact over the PA? and it isnt the band?

Why don't people do a protest and all wear POP t-shirts to one of the gigs? Or when Bono starts singing Walk On start singing Gone/Mofo :hmm: I'm sure that would work

A singing bird in a suit of lights
Who will only fly for mother sucking rock n roll!!

What setlist drama? I don't sleep anything worse because of a (imo) not very good setlist. I'm just giving my opinion:lol:
