Even if dropping the first song doesn't bother me one bit, your second spoiler is very depressing news.

Sorry I didn't do a big write up for Saturday like I did for Friday. The day was way, way too complex to write about right now. We'll see.

You're a tornado of bullshit.

Right, so I'm home and it's over. Had a very fun few days.

If you want to see the Dead Weather's performance (also known as the coronation of Alison Mosshart as the epitome of sexy), it's streaming RIGHT NAO: 2009 ACLMF Live Webcast

Don't know why it says it's live when it was actually at 7.

What about Henry Clay People? At least tell me I'm an idiot for sending you there.

Caught a few songs of theirs and really didn't mind it one bit. My life wasn't changed or anything, but it was a decent diversion at the very least. And it was far and away not the worst show I saw this weekend.

Alright, breakdowns:

Saturday

Henry Clay People - check my previous post

Caught the tail end of Alberta Cross' set. Really cool show. I'll be listening to their record.

!!! were a lot of fun, as expected. Good stuff.

THE GRIZ! completely defied my expectations, which I'm sure you know were sky high. So great. The rain started halfway through their set and only got worse as the night went on.

Bon Iver was unbelievable. The torrential downpour through their entire set was an ideal environment considering the tunes. It was toward the top for best shows on the weekend.

The Decemberists were okay. We got the entire Hazards front to back, as was expected. I enjoyed it more like that than I do listening to the record. Glad I saw it played.

After that I snuck my way back into the artist grove by myself and had a nice time. We're not supposed to go in there with the VIP bands, but I somehow ended up in there. I drank way too much while talking to some Canadian keyboard player. He didn't know Elfa or BoMac, so I was a little disappointed.

Today

Black Joe Lewis was great. I'd recommend that show to anyone.

Here We Go Magic weren't as good as I had hoped.

I had to sit through the entirety of the B-52s waiting for "Rock Lobster" to show up. They eventually closed with it. And it was everything I dreamed it would be.

Arctic Monkeys were better than I expected. Thanks for the rec, Gaffer.

Passion Pit were awful. Worst show of the weekend. There is absolutely no oomph to those songs live. Maybe the sound was just bad, but I hated it.

So I left Passion Pit after three songs to go see Dirty Projectors. OH SHIT. Loved it. The Coff and The Doo right in front of me led to a realization: The Doo wins. Sorry Laz. She just does. Anyway, they sounded fantastic live and closed with that song they played on Jimmy Fallon. Thankfully, I get to see an entire set from them in less than three weeks.

The Dead Weather. Good lord. Fucking awesome stuff. Probably my favorite show of the weekend along with Griz and YYY. I can't put how much I love Alison Mosshart into words. She was something else. It was one of the hotter parts of the day at that point and she was obviously exhausted toward the end of the set. She spent the first bits of the last song ("Will There Be Enough Water," which is disgustingly good live) laying on her stomach in front of the drum kit sweaty as shit and lighting a cigarette. My raccoon got a little rocky.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

I avoided the shitty Girl Talk crowd by hanging toward the back. Cool to see live, I guess, but I'm completely disillusioned with him at this point. But at least I missed that awful fan base. I took Shouter's warnings to heart.

And that's it. The park was one giant mud ball today from yesterday's rain. It was kind of cool.

Also, I just picked up a ticket to see them a block away from my house, at a place even smaller than where Thom Yorke played that rehearsal show the other night.

Rec Center Studio

SWEET.

The show is on Halloween. I'll be sure to let y'all know what THE COFF! is hiding under her costume.

I'm going to pick up my Projectors ticket tomorrow, at a fairly small venue where the stage is basically on the ground.

Did you end up catching Mos Def yesterday, impy?

I didn't, unfortunately. It's a long story, but I got in a pretty big fight with my famous exgirlfriend, who was my companion for the weekend. Some may say it's because I was being ridiculous, but I really didn't want her little fuck buddy to join our group, so I told her to fuck off. He wasn't supposed to be there but ended up coming for some reason. Everything after is blurry except for the Decemberists since I started hitting the sauce hard at that point. Her friend chalked it all up to me having ulterior motives for the weekend and wanting to win her back. Not so. Even if I'm completely over it, which I am, I don't want to hang out with them together. That's normal.

My threatening to commit knife crime (yes, I actually said that) probably wasn't as normal.

This is one of my favorite posts you've ever made.

Ha, thanks. And I just fleshed it out a bit.

Speaking of "fleshing it out," Alison Mosshart, guyz!

The amount of Certified Impy Singin' Cuties running around was astounding. Karen O -> The Coff & The Doo combo -> Mossy. Golly! And even Here We Go Magic's bass player had the look.

 I think that's probably the best excuse you could give for missing a show. Plus, you actually said you were going to commit knife crime out loud. Awesome.

It's funnier when you realize saying you'll cut someone if they come near you isn't exactly back up by your stellar record of having never been in a fight.

Everything was fine today, for the most part. But I don't like being around her. And I'll probably tell her to go to THE JECTS! alone in a couple weeks because I don't feel like going with her anymore. This weekend was a mistake.

Cass, you'll be happy to know I caught a lot of shows alone this weekend. You might be on to something here.

A friend told me he was seeing Okkervil River the other day, and I texted back "Enjoy THE OKK!"

Anyone else try running THE CLICK! band lingo by non-interferencers?

Well a couple spirited shouts of "THE GRIZ!" this weekend as well as using The Passionate Pits more than their actual name. And I've used a couple of good Lance's Mom jokes as trivia team names before.

I thought it was THE PROJ!

Eh, it's whatever. I like em both.

THE EX! and the guy getting your sloppy seconds can shove it. Or receive the wrong end of KNIFE CRIME.

I absolutely have. I've been using it a lot when talking sports with my buddies. I'll shorten an athlete's name or something like that. Both THE PEAV! and THE JENK! have already caught on amongst my fellow Sox fan friends.

Impy, nice rundown of your ACL festivities. Glad you caught the Monkeys. And I really, really need to see The Dead Weather live. Damn.

I usually disconnect Interland from my real life, but there's been occasional moments that I'll slide something in there. I've mentioned POWERJUICE, Knife Crime, and the United States of Recession in real life.

Appreciate it. This weekend was the second time we've hung out in about two months, and there was plenty I enjoyed about her company. Never once had the urge to make a move or anything, so the entire poisoning-against-me thing her friend is doing is baseless. But fuck it. Was I really off base not wanting to be around them together even being over it? I told her if the shoe was on the other foot she'd feel the same way, but she disagreed. I mean I think you can be over somebody and still not want to physically see them with someone else.

Well I'm glad you enjoyed them. I just might need to check Humbug out. You could be on to something here. And a big, big yes for you seeing THE WEATH! at some point. You especially would lose your shit during their show.

Yeah, you're not in the wrong there. You know what else isn't wrong? "Lady Godiva's Operation."
