Is it weird to get 22 second clips stuck in your head, cause Stand Up is really getting to me... Things do get better over time I guess

The only songs I'm intrigued about switching are MoS and Breathe. I think they will probably work best where they are, but the album might also really work when they are rearranged.

But then wouldn't the album potentially fall victim to the whole problem of the last couple of albums? IOW, big beginning and slow and boring end?

Just a thought. I like the idea of having something big and bright and potentially rocking towards the end vs. all moody and slow songs.

Has U2 ever done this? I can't think of one off the top of my head...

U2 has consistently ended their albums on a more mellow, moody point...

I don't get what your trying to get at, because I see no one else posting anything relevant to my comment. If that remark was directed at me, than I assume you're to(o) damn sarcy, IMO.

No I didn`t direct that at you, look at all the threads started, that is why this is a discussion thread...

Just stemming off your comment about how many threads there will be ady.

I was told by a friend that this site was inhabited by psycho U2 cultists. He was right. I'm gonna go fuck my girlfriend.

Yeah, right. If he is lucky his rubber girlfriend. This SkandalCrow is a moron (I am sory, Sicy. This dude was so negative I couldn't resist). But back to the music. These clips have just melodies that get in your head and refuse to go away. I was singing all day NLOTH at work. People looked at me kind of amused because I am a terrible singer. Tonight I have Magnificent in my head.

thats my point.

I'm hoping that Breathe would help break that pattern.

Technically that edition of Bomb with Fast cars ending.

I personally don't consider "bonus tracks" to be part of the album asthetic. None of my albums have bonus tracks on them, so I don't know what it is to hear HTDAAB end in Fast Cars, or ATYCLB end in TGBHF.

It just seems like all of their last few albums take a really moody dive towards the end. Though you can kind of make the case that Yahweh is not really moody. Either way, it would be nice to have a big song with a big bright chorus anywhere but the first half of the album. Thats all I'm saying.

There are two new previews available. One on U2log and one on U2tour.de. The first isn't very positive and talks about U2 playing it save. The second is written by a guy who plays in a U2 cover band and he doesn't like the songs after one listen. But the thinks that it's a good thing:ohmy::huh:.

How on earth can you decide if they are playing it safe from 30 seconds worth of clips? have we not already been told from people who have actually heard the FULL album that the songs take many turns and twists?,

The guy who did the review heard the whole album but just once. But he was Austrian:wave: so he probably knows more about skiing then good music.

you don't consider OOTS to be big and bright? not rockin', but it's the opposite of moody. It's joyous. and so is Yahweh really, a lot more hopeful and upbeat than the usual U2 closer.

Cedars will definitely be a moody U2 closer, and I'm looking forward to it. Breathe will be more of an OOTS type except rock harder.

I guess I forgot about OOTS.

I usually skip that one :reject:

Yahweh is joyous, but it has a certain humility with it that works for a closer...

I actually like ending on a mellower note, ending with a rocker would leave me wanting more and would feel incomplete...

Plus it goes really well with the night day theme...

No, I agree. Let me clarify....Not necessarily a rocker at the end, but maybe TOWARDS the end.

I actually like the idea of a more somber/soft tune to close an album out. Some of their brilliant album closers IMO: 40, All I Want Is You (though it does have some high energy in it) Love is Blindness, and Wake Up Deadman.

I just think that they tend to really dial down the energy of their last halves of their most recent albums. It looks like they only have TWO songs on the second half of this album that are really slow and moody: White as Snow and COL (though is COL really slow?) So in the end I might get my wish with this new album.

I agree, it's not one of my favourite U2 songs but I think it's a great closer. It sums up the feeling of the album I think. Even with more depressing songs like Sometimes and OSC, I generally get a more happy feeling from Bomb, like U2 are just enjoying making music.
