Donald Trump to Haitian voters: I want to be your greatest champion (9/16/16, Miami Herald)
Clinton, Trump said, failed Haiti when it needed help the most.
“Clinton was responsible for doing things a lot of the Haitian people are not happy with,” Trump said from prepared remarks, referring to the aftermath of Haiti’s devastating Jan. 12, 2010, earthquake. “Taxpayer dollars intended for Haiti and the earthquake victims went to a lot of the Clinton cronies.”
Later, Trump told the crowd that he had come to “listen and learn” and to build a new relationship with the community.
“Whether you vote for me or not I really want to be your biggest champion,” he said.

Exactly. There's a real selfishness in politics that I think adds to the issues in trying to make any sort of progress. It's not a new thing, of course, but it is a problem. We're called the United States for a reason, and I think people tend to forget that too often.

Re: Trump's "shithole" comments, I always find it weird how he and other politicians will harp on and on about how the fact we have people from other countries flocking here is proof of how great our country is...only to then insult and mock the people who do come here, and treat them like second-class citizens.

Last year didn't he go after Rep John Lewis on/around MLK day? He knows how to commemorate.

Of course he's denying that he used that exact language. I say he lies.

Trump's tasteless comments aside, the US is still one of the best, most generous, welcoming countries for immigrants in the world...and this data is based partially on the experiences of immigrants themselves.

And not to put too fine a point on it, but they're not "second class citizens"...they're not citizens at all (well, not of the US anyway, at least initially). There's no country in the world that gives non-citizens the all the same rights and privileges as citizens. In fact many countries have long term "guest workers" who essentially act as the servant class for their citizens, who have no path to citizenship at all.

And Trump's comments, while again ugly, actually reflect what is the law in most countries...preferred immigration status is given to those with needed skills or money to invest (though apparently, and stupidly, Trump seems to want to curb the former).

That said, obviously hateful, false rhetoric about law abiding immigrants should have no place in political discourse. But then we already know who Donald Trump is.

Blah blah blah the line "comments [...] actually reflect what is the law in most countries" suggests that the prior subject factoid was somehow either unbeknown to the reader or otherwise not the standard law in Trump's country.
 
Your clue, if it wasn’t already perfectly clear, was that I go on to say “Trump seems to want to curb the former”. He cant curb it if it doesn’t exist. Whether this factoid was, as you say, unknown to the reader, I can’t say.

Claimed to be Stable Genius, and like really smart
Screwed up FISA talks with Tweet
Said won't meet with Mueller, denying Collusion 300 Billion times
Made yet another racist statement, calling African countries Shitholes (as well as Haiti)
Reports coming out silenced porn star about affair

It's exhausting, and I probably missed something

Ew@the thought of Trump with a porn star. She definitely lowered all of her standards if that's true.

Inside Edition put a guy on Trump's Diet Coke red meat McDonald's diet. He never slept and gained 10 pounds in a week. Trump had his physical today and the WH actually announced that mental health wasn't part of it. Ummmm...
 
The porn star thing is the least surprising and least upsetting Trump rumor I've seen. Earns a legit shrug from me.
