My problem is that I can't put the backing track in my mp3 player and listen to it in my recording studio while doing the vocal, and it's not financially responsible to waste a disc on one track.

You know, this is why I said this a while ago:

I don't know if it's been mentioned here before, but I just played the backing track together with the studio version and they are in different keys. You may have to play with the pitch a bit on some of these submissions so it doesn't end up being another Lemon.

And some of the mixing is a late as well, so that contributes to the fact that it's really off.

Ah, well. I should have volunteered to fix the pitch issues since I know the program (GoldWave) so well.

Nah, I don't need you to rerecord. Maybe if the pitches were completely different, but they were actually pretty close, so if I slow them down some, it doesn't affect the tempo of the song too much.

I just need you guys to reupload those lines (now only #2) because they were expired. I got everyone else's.

I always record my vocals by listening to the real song, so I sing it in that tempo and key. I figured since Please is standard it wouldn't be a problem.

I wish I had a better microphone, as mine really eliminates most of the bass in my voice. Not that I have a deep voice to begin with, but I think a more balanced sound would work better.

Nothing wrong with carefully considering which lines to sing and which not.

I'm definitely staying away from as many high or falsetto parts as I can.

And I don't know what it is with Please (I feel like most of the song is in the wrong key for my voice), but I had a hard time figuring out how to sing it in a middle range. It was either low or high. And I couldn't reach the high...

I listened to the album, single and live version (from Rotterdam) before recording and dare I say it, but there are parts in each of them where Bono sounds like he's struggling with it.
