Screen Caps on a Mac

Every time I try to open a DVD in Quicktime Player to make screen caps, it always says, "Error opening movie." Then when I try to take screen caps in DVD player, it says "Screen grabs cannot be taken while DVD player is open", or something along those lines. Can someone please help?

the video is copyright protected which is why it's not letting you get a screen caption. Try using another program such as VLC - that should let you do it.

Ok, just wondering, can you make gifs in VLC?

I don't think so...it just plays the movie/video.

No but one way you can do that would be to play your movie in VLC, pause the movie, open up the application Grab (located in your Utlities folder), make a screen capture, save the image (by default it will probably be a tiff), open that tiff file using Preview and re-save it as a Gif.

But it sounds like you might be trying to make an animated gif and thats more complex
