Got good news today; went tot he specialist with my Hubby and it looks like he probably will avoid hand surgery; they have the thumb backin its joint and none of the tears in the tendons were complete, plus theres no nerve damage :) thank God for that! He'll be in a cast and in and out of physical therapy, but its so much better than it could have been
