Tell me if this makes *any* sense.
cos(7 pi)
is eqivalent to cos(pi)
Simply because if you look at the coordinate thing...(the axis).....and if you start at 0.....and go 180* (or pi)..seven times, you end up at the same place (180).
Now, to figure out what it equals, if you've learned sin and cosin waves, you should already know.
If not, worry not, it's one of those simple to memorize
ones.
To figure out if it is positive or negative, have you heard of the CAST rule? Each quadrent has one trig (sin, cos, tan) that is positive, the others are negative.
Well, where it lands, it would be negative (top, left quad...only sin is positive).
Does that make any sense????
