I watched No Strings Attached because New Girl's Liz Meriwether wrote the screenplay, and I'm still trying to figure out whether I'm a fan of her in particular. It didn't help that Ashton Kutcher's lack of chemistry with Natalie Portman damn near sank the whole thing, and the general structure was pretty conventional (alternate between guy w/sassy best friend commentary, sex, girl w/sassy best friend commentary). But it was her first major Hollywood movie, and basically everything on the main spine of the film that the suits would pay attention to stunk, while the supporting cast and scenes were really pretty funny. Both NSA and New Girl have had a sharp eye towards casting.
