Need recomendation to buy acoustic/electric guitar?

Need to buy like in a week or two an Acoustic-Electric guitar, any recomendations for a good gutiar, of natural color, that doesn't cost more than 170 bucks? Of course I'll be playing U2 songs in it (if u wonder)!

Hmmm...$170, that's gonna be tough. I would look at some used Washburns, Alvarez' or Ibanez'. Can you get by without electronics for a while? If you got a straight acoustic you might be able to get a little more guitar for your money, then add a pickup later. Check out Dave's Guitar Shop in LaCrosse, WI, they do a lot of trading and occasionally have some affordable used acoustics.

Seriously consider trying to up your budget if at all possible. Once you hit the $500.00 range you can start looking at some used Martin X series guitars. I'd hate to see anyone drop $170 on a guitar then end up not playing it cause the action sucks or the electronics crap out a month after you get it.

A good cheap electric acoustic is the Fender Stratacoustic. It is not great sounding as an "acoustic" guitar, but it sounds good when you have it plugged in. Also, it has a Strat neck so it is much easier to play than a typical acoustic, let alone any acoustic that you will find in a low price range. It's a little bit more than your $170, $299 with gig bag...but you can get a place like Guitar Center down to $250.

I already have an acoustic (Taylor btw) but is only acoustic and I wanted to try some songs in an acoustic/electric guitar, is Epiphone a recommended brand for this kind of gutiar (I know Edge has a Casino one)? I just find out one for 150 of those guys...

So are you looking for an coustic electric or a hollowbody? There is a BIG difference.

If you are looking for a hollow body, you can look at an Epi Casino or Sheraton. Both are nice guitars but very different sound. The Casino is a full hollowbody which brings up the issues of feedback. The Sheraton is a Semi-hollowbody. Both are well above your $170 price point.

I was thinking in that but I'm not sure if I should give it to any store here (I live in Costa Rica), so they can ruin its acoustic... I mean I like it acousitc as it is, I want other gutiar, apart from this one...

Amen.......thats good advice! if there is one thing i have learnt in life.......save up extra cash and get a good guitar. It can be the difference between wanting to play it and walking away from it!!
