I mean baseball? Who dat
I think salary levels are going to end up with a reset/adjustment soon so long as the luxury tax etc. is in place. Small market teams won't pay the big salaries and the big market teams are shying away (to an extent) due to the tax. Harper and Machado neither having signed yet is a sign that the system still needs tweaking.
What is a Metropolitan anyways
Holy shit, John Wetteland.![]()
It is embarrassing that this sport lacks a salary floor. $10 billion in revenue and they act like it's $10 million. These owners should be in prison.Collusion.
Prison might be strong, but yes - a salary floor should be mandatory.
Good point, random new poster who happens to know that I'm a Mets fanI would think a fan of the Mets would be most supportive of the idea of owners being thrown in jail! But yes, I was exaggerating a bit there.
Hall of Fame announcements tomorrow. Will Mo get 100 percent? Will Bonds and Rocket finally get in? Not sure about Mo's 100 percent, but I think the PED (alleged) boys will get enough votes.
Didn't some writer already say he wouldn't submit a ballot to ensure Mo didn't get 100%?
Its pretty stupid of these guys, but it's a thing. The Old "Babe Ruth didn't get 100%, neither did Cy Young, so why should anyone get 100%" argument.
So voters in the past were idiots, let's continue the tradition.
I think Bonds & Clemens fall just short, and make it next year.
That Mike Mussina is a hall of famer before Barry Bonds or Roger Clemens is a farce.
I would.
Mussina was a very good, not great pitcher.
Clemens is an all time great, and Bonds is the best baseball player of all time.
I don't think that makes me wrong.I don't disagree about Clemens and Bonds. They should have been 1st ballot HoFers.
But you are wrong on Mussina. I don't want to repeat Jay Jaffe, so I invite you to read him: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/jaws-and-the-2019-hall-of-fame-ballot-mike-mussina/
Also, the HoF is a joke.
Bonds is the best baseball player of all time.
