MERGED ---> one with mary j + U2 & Mary J

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
The reason why "One" has stayed in the top 10 so long is because it isn't available on any U2 album, so U2 fans are more likely to buy it than they are any other U2 single. And also because Mary J Blige is involved in the song, it draws in many of her fans into buying it. I don't think this chart run is mainly a result of Downloads, although it would have helped a small bit.

Well if Downloads were included for when 'Vertigo' & 'SYCMIOYO' charted then their chart runs definitely would been better (as well as the approx 70,000 extra sales). 'COBL' was released when downloads did count & spent 9 wks on the top 75, which is a record for a 3rd single off a U2 album.

'All Because Of You' though, didn't seem to benefit at all from downloads, spending a meagre 4 wks on the top 75...strange.

I just spent 99 cents on this song on iTunes. So if you can't find it, you don't have to spend a lot on it.

Secondly, not sure if this has been said already, but it's credited to "Mary J. Blige & U2" because it's on her latest album, rather than a U2 album.

Why is this single that succesful in Europe? I can't understand it. It's clear that it's a good song and that U2 are involved but U2 singles usually aren't that succesful and Mary J. Blige is not that big in Europe which her new album shows.

No sign of "One" on U.S. charts

Did the song chart on Billboard top 100?

While "One" seems to be MJB's 2nd single for the rest of the world, here in the U.S., it is "Enough Cryin" that was clearly released as the follow-up to "Be Without You". It is doing fairly well on the charts, too, around #30 on the Hot 100 w/bullet and at #17 on Hot 100 Airplay only w/bullet.

That being said, as someone else mentioned, the video has now debuted on VH1 and is being featured on the new "fan-vote" Top 20 chart as one of the choices you can select for this week's chart. Also, there's the download video recently made available. I have not seen the song itself featured as a download or officially released as a single in the U.S., although the video release may be intended to be as far as MJB plans to go w/respect to a "formal" release.

The song is on Billboards Eurocharts, though, rising from 9 to 6 on the Eurochart Top 20 Download chart. It is also on the Europe Hot 100 Singles chart, holding at #5 this week.

"One" is now avalaible in US I-Tunes, #34, consequently the song is very likely to enter in the Hot 100 already this week.
