What's the price for that? We both know that no member of Congress will work for free.
I would think they are all on salary.
This shouldn't be costing the taxpayers anything.

true, but the Capital Police and all the other related workers are most likely on OT.
it only costs about 80 bucks to put an old dog down.
Is that really a concern, in the scope of what is being accomplished here?
true, (and I am sure the Insurance Companies and lobbyists will put a little extra in their Xmas stockings)
but the Capital Police and all the other related workers are most likely on OT.
that's crude. and certainly not all sick/injured pets are old and on their last legs.
What's being accomplished is another unfunded entitlement, and it's forever.
they held congress in session both Saturday and Sunday
so the Congressmen could not go back to their districts and raise hell and / or get bombarded by protesters
I would think they are all on salary.

God forbid, now - anyone in the future won't be denied health care because they are unemployed or have run into financial hardship, or illness.
My brother died waiting on approval from medicaid so he could see a liver specialist.
The week after he died, (2 years after he was first diagnosed) he received a letter stating he would receive SSI, which we didn't care so much about because we were paying for his doctors anyway, but we did care about the medicaid. They were going to review it for 6 months and give a decision. Their delay caused my brother more pain than he should have had to have in his final days.
Edited to say: don't know what I did wrong in the quote, but what the f***.
What's being accomplished is another unfunded entitlement, and it's forever.
I think they still get paid extra for weekend sessions.

Oh by the way, tacked onto the bill is the provision to completely nationalize the student loan program.

Exactly the type of free-market solution we've come to expect from the president and his radically pro-capitalist agenda.
Obama plans health care statement tonight
BEN FELLER / Associated Press
Washington -- Sensing victory, President Barack Obama is planning to make a statement to the nation tonight after the House takes its final vote on health care legislation.
The White House announced late this afternoon Obama would speak from the East Room in the evening, with the timing to be determined.
The announcement was another signal that Obama was confident that Democrats have the votes to pass the legislation at the center of his domestic agenda.

Here's what I can safely say.Have you even looked into how the student loan business is run now?
3) It will take jobs from private banks and replace them with public sector union jobs. So SEIU and Democratic politicians benefit.Who is benefiting?
4) My fear is, this new centralized power will prove to be too great of a temptation for the micro-managers, diversity bean-counters and social engineers in Washington D.C.What will the change do?

Your brother's Medicaid wait time would not have been shortened under this bill.
I've watched most of this debate on C-Span today.
There are a couple of real fringe, whack jobs in Congress. pandering to the paranoid masses out there.
Here's what I can safely say.
1) Democrats don't want to debate the issue on its merits, hence the piggyback.
2) Since it's all one bill, the student loan savings get scored by the CBO as health care savings. Another example of the fiscal smoke & mirrors being employed by the Democrats.
