I think the most important thing to remember is that, for my list, I'm comparing what I consider to be the "best version" of each of these songs. I mean, I am NOT a fan of the Vertigo Versions of "Bullet the Blue Sky" or "Elevation." That said, I'm not just making these picks based on Vertigo--this is an uber-list. If the songs ain't been played, then I think we're all in the same boat of IMAGINING what the ideal version would sound like. So...yeah...rock and roll.

1. "Electric Co."--VERY tough call...certainly my hardest decision of the bunch. Just throwing darts, at this point.

2. "An Cat Dubh"--Fuck "I Will Follow!" I never wanna' hear that shit live again...

3. "Bullet the Blue Sky"

4. "With or Without you"

5. "Zoo Station"

6. "City Of Blinding Lights"

7. "Elevation"--Not QUITE as overplayed for/by me.

8. "All I Want Is You"

9. "Crumbs From Your Table"--Minus that DREADFUL last verse. A
la the bonus DVD performance, though certainly a good deal tighter and more polished for me to consider it "ideal."

10. "Bad"--My all-time fave track.

This is an interesting post. I like hearing what everyone thinks of these songs. I bet if you polled everyone, you'd get 52/48 splits on just about everything. That's what makes it so tough to decide on a setlist if you're a band this popular. Here are mine, and why, just for shits and giggles.

1. Gloria
no reason whatsoever - maybe just for the 1,2,3,4! I'm cool with either.

2. I Will follow
I like buildups and improvisation - the "your eyes" part is a highlight

3. Bullet The Blue Sky
Dirtier, gritier, more improvisation - solos and bono - the song is really never the same exact thing twice

4. One
Clearly the better song. If just for the non-album part they do at the end - "hear em coming, I can hear em call..."

5. Zoo Station
Even Better is a little overplayed - Zoo Station still rocks hard

6. Original of the Species
Tough one, but the big creshendo, if Bono hits it 100%, makes it better. If he misses, I go the other way.

7. Elevation
Another tough one. Both overplayed. I guess if they're both firing on all cylinders, I go with Elevation - maybe just for memories of the lights on.

8. All I Want is You
No brainer.

9. Crumbs
Crumbs - again, all about the build up and release "3 to a bed, sister ann she said, dignity passes byyyyyy..." (by the way, saying that verse is dreadful - that's just impossible for me to understand)

10. 40 OR BAD
Another tough one. Bad is my all time fav U2 song too, but I've never seen 40. I'm seeing 4 shows on tour, and if I had my choice, I'd want to see 40 one time of the three - just to see how powerful it is because I don't know.
