I'm sorry before I say it,
But I watch it spill out on the floor.
With anyone else it's easy,
We drag obstacles onto the path.
My worst seems the best i can do
Around you.
And we hurt each other,
Then we do it again.

Love keeps us coming back for more,
Reaching out for understanding.
You can't choose your family,
But I do choose you.
There is no one on this earth,
Whose admiration I want more.
Home is where
The hurt is.

Brother, I pray we get it right someday.
The first time would be a first.
Leave behind the tangle of emotions,
Look with new eyes, speak with new lips.
Forget that we might not love each other
If we didn't have to.
Be my brother.
Don't spend your whole life running after me.

you've never been hurt,
and dance like no
one's watching.**

I noticed that we write about the same things, DB

cos I have poems similar to your two latest ones.

Needless to say, I really identify with this. I used to have awful awful quarrels with one sibling; when we were kids we wrestled (she even kicked my spine till I stopped breathing once), and now we've grown up and I have only just begun to get to know her. You couldn't find two more diametrically opposed characters like my sister and I.

My worst seems the best i can do
Around you.

Oh, yeah.
I can tell from your poem that you're a very gracious sister.

Thanks, foray. I'm glad that someone could relate to this poem. I was afraid it was a bit too personal. My brother is the only person who can make me mad enough to wanna punch something. We just make it too easy to misunderstand each other and then let it snowball. We're getting better though.

until the brother mention, i thought this was about lovers.
only because of the emotion and deep connection you talk of.
i too have a bro that i unfortunately fight with a lot.We argue about many things and get on each others' nerves about the smallest things.
However, he and I can sit up till all hours of the monring talking and laughing about everything and nothing.
Brothers are just like that, Im really looking forward to the realtionship I will have with my brother when hes out of his teen phase.

Thanks for the poem Dancing Barefoot. I wont call u DB, cause therse another DB round this place whom you are nothing like!

hey Dancing, it's great that you have such a deep relationship with your brother. What Amanda said about it sounding like lovers just proves that there is something there. I don't have a brother but I have two sisters and it's weird because the one I always fought with is suddenly becoming my friend even though we're immensely different. And the one who was always my friend has hit 13 and is, unfortunately, one of the biggest brats I know right now. But we all get along sometimes, and when we do, I could swear they're the best friends I've ever had.

I'm sure your realationship will work out. And thanks for the beautiful poem.

I've never fought with any lover as much as I fight with my brother. Hey, that rhymes!!

Yeah amanda, my brother and I can get along wonderfully too. We have many common interests and of course, a common past (only 3yrs apart). And, babygrace, the teen years are strange. The dynamic between you and your sisters will probably alter a lot over the next few years. For better or worse, there is no relationship like that of a sibling.
