More 5G Than Man
A month in and we're at part three. We'll get through all of these someday, I promise. Final part should be up in 10-ish days, so if you haven't sent me your playlist yet, that gives you an idea of how long you have before the deadline.
As always, listen, comment and enjoy. The links have been sent.

My entry this time is an all-1970s list. The only criteria for a song to get in were for it to be from the 70s and for me to like it. This list was designed to highlight the diversity of the decade, as many consider the 70s to be the most diverse/eclectic decade for popular music(at least in the mainstream). I tried to represent a wide array of genres and subgenres, although they couldn't all be represented equally(i.e. some get one song, some get a bunch, that kind of thing, that's just how it unfolded). A lot of these are sort of obvious choices, and you probably won't discover much 'new' music here(although some of my selections are far less obvious and might be new to you). That's pretty much it. It's a love-letter to the 70s.
You can listen to each of the four 'sides' individually, but they're designed to segue nicely into each other, so you can listen straight through too.
This was a really tough list to make because there's so much to choose from; I had to make some tough cuts, and use various official edits of some songs to save time, and I still actually used up all of the available time(it's exactly 160:00 long), but I think I ended up with a pretty good list. I hope you enjoy it.

I've been dying to do another DI and I reckon this might just be my favourite list. I have never used most of these artists before and in fact, most of this music has come out very recently - a fair chunk of it I've only had for a few weeks. But it all fits together. I place a great deal of importance on transitions and I'm really happy with all of these. Thematically, this list kind of follows where I've been at in my life over the last little bit. It just sounds like where I'm at. It's the music I listen to. Hope you like it. PS: My track 31 actually isn't 24 minutes long. Well, it is, but the first four minutes are the song and then it transitions into like 20 minutes of beach noise which obviously isn't compulsory listening.

Tractatus Logico- Musicum I
It's been a while since I took part in a Desert Island, my taste in music I would not say has changed but I like to think my taste has considerably broadened. Looking back on previous DI most of the music I listened to followed a very similar structure, I was always the indie rock/pop guy at school. Now I'm out in the working world and I find myself looking more towards dub-step and other electronica much more and hip hop which I actively avoided while younger but I will always enjoy a good melody no matter how complex or simple a song is. There is no particular theme to these playlists other than to introduce folks to some of the great music I have been listening to over the past couple of years. There is a loose idea that part I is a bit more accessible than part II, to guide the listener into some of the more eclectic material in the second half. The title I have nicked from Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, and these playlists are (in a small corny way), a logical musical treatise on how music remains such a big part of my life, and long may it "reign o'er me".

Here we are, my first "Concept" list. What's the concept? I just wanted to make a list of songs with girl's names in the title.
It started as one of those simple ideas...I was driving in my car with Travis and "Oh Sherrie" came on for the 10,000th time. We started talking about songs with girl's names in them and very quickly I decided it would be fun to make a list of them. Then I decided that it might make a nice DI list. I think I started with "Oh Sherrie", "Kayleigh", "Kelsey" (by Metro Station) and "Meet Viriginia"...you're probably going to think the list improved fairly well over that.
Over the next year or so (yes, I've been working on this for a while), every time a new song would come on the radio, I'd get excited and make sure to add it to the list as soon as I got home.
Unfortunately, as these things often do, what started as a fun little hobby soon went down the rabbit hole of insanity. I suddenly had all of these arbitrary rules that mattered to no one but me for what could be on the list. It was for that reason that original staples from the list, "Bette Davis Eyes" and "Hurricane J" (replaced by "Chelsea Dagger" thanks to the Blackhawks) got the boot. The former for not being the name of the actual girl in the song, the latter because Jessie's name is not spelled out in the song title. Those are just two examples of my insanity in creating this list.
But, you know what? I think it was worth it. I really enjoy it and I've had a generally great time making it as well. Shouldn't that always be a part of the fun?
Anyways, I don't want to take up more of your time, I just thought you might like to hear a little about what went on while I made this list. I tried to preserve a bit of that radio feeling that I got while creating this, as you might hear in the opening and closing songs especially. I hope you guys enjoy!
