You don't have to be going very fast to die in a bike accident. It does happen. Just because its a bike doesn't mean it can't result in serious injuries.

Totally. People are dying from less dramatic accidents. Cycling isn't as harmless as many seem to believe. I see accidents involving cyclists almost every week, people being unconscious on the street, being transported to hospital, broken limbs.

Speed isn't always necessary to do a lot of harm, sometimes it's enough to simply fall off your bike. I know people who stumbled while walking and broke several bones, my brother just fell down on one side when he was STANDING on his skis, not even moving, and he had two fractured bones in his leg. On the other hand, some accidents may look more horrendous than others and in the end, nothing serious happened.
