James U2
The Fly
I just wanted to chime in on this thread...
We all have to remember that we, here at Interference, are members of a dedicated U2 environment and do not in the slighest bit represent the desires of the "average" U2 fan. And while some of us (not me) think it would be great to hear songs such as Acrobat, Exit, Gloria, et al played live, many people who will end up paying large amounts of money to see U2 would be hard-pressed to even tell you what albums these songs are from.
And in response to the people who argue that hearing "classic" U2 songs only on occasion makes these performances special, you must remember that it's really only special for the small percentage of people at that concert who are aware of the abnormal song selection. Many of us here will see 10 or more shows, but far more will not.
I think that Willie Williams put it best when he said that most U2 concert-ticket buyers will only see one show, so there is a need to make that one show as special as possible. As hard as it is, we all need to remember that we here at Interference are by far the minority of U2 fans the world over.
