There is two pair of Bono glasses on Ebay right now. The first pair are Romeo Gigli 226 with a lens code 7MR, I didnt know there was a brown / amber faded lens in the 226 model. They look really nice and just wanted to know if anyone in here has a pair or even heard of this lens code. The other pair is just the Black Fly No 5. They are sold together which sucks... lol... Can someone please help me.

I have the Romeo Gigli 226 in the light brown/fade colour.

I'll look for a pic now.

anyone know of which models are still currently available online (not on ebay)

bvlgari 8025 is on a bunch of sites (anyone know the best to buy from, best price? which lens color is the one Bono wears on stage?) is this only Bono- Bvlgari still available?
any D&G's?
EA 9294 and 9285's are discontinued.
EA 9592 still available

9294 in both pink and deep red colors are still on ebay, the guy from Singapore selling them is the only one who made them available for us (or you got to live in Japan, Korea, or Asia in general to get them, they are still in stores, saw them in Tokyo about two months ago.). BTW this guy is trustworthy, and sends via express mail so I'd suggest not to hesitate if you want to grab a pair !

As for "Bono Bvlgari" still available, have you checked out the Bvlgari 549 ? They are still on a few websites :) The only problem with those shades is that no Bono color's available for sale (he has them in blue and a beautiful (to me) faded yellowish color

)...

Bono newer wore the 9294.

He wore the pink 9285 with pink arms (those available for sale to everyone) only on some occasions to promote (RED) campain. Other than that, his custom "pink" (which are a bit darker than the actual average joe's pair) glasses had dark earpieces.

To try and make things clear :
Here bono's wearing the 9285 you can get (with the (RED) logo)

The 9294 pink with light pink arms are the exact same color as those, only shape is different.

The 9294 deep red will appear more like this (bono's own 9285, back in the days he didn't have the RED logo on his custom pairs)

please note however that when it comes to glasses, the lighting plays a big role in how the color will appear (sunlight, photo flash, indoor/outdoor are all to be considered), that's how some glasses like the light green 9285 sometime look brown, or the d&g 2138 g37 (I believe this is the code, I need Gvox's help on that one, he knows this pair quite well) appear brown, grey, or blueish ...

thanks for the breakdown Moonwalker. thats exactly what im looking for.

So, pretty much all of the photo on this era of Bono in pink are his 9285 deep red. And only a few times to promote RED did he wear the lighter shade of pink - but again the 9285 model.

NEVER the 9294. i must ask then, why were 9294's ever considered Bono glasses then? Just cuz they look pretty similar?

Lastly, the 9285's are indeed discontinued, correct? if not, where can you buy them?

thanks again

They are the exact same style, the size and shape are jsut a little different because this is the version of the 9285 for the Asian market, as asians tend to have smaller faces. Now it's technically not a Bono model, sure. But they are appreciated by people :
a/ who have smaller faces
b/ who looked for different colors (deep red and faded brown were exclusive to 9294), this is the main reason that made me buy the faded brown ones.

ok. so without being asian, do they fit your face okay to wear? or more just a collectors item

If the 9285s are a perfect fit for you I would be carefull about getting the 9294. If, on the other hand, the 9285 are HUGE on your face then you probably will be ok with the 9294. I'm tall and skinny, with what I consider to be an average sized head, but when i tried on the 9294s that I got on ebay they looked really bad on me; they just didn't cover enough of my face. There IS a significant size difference!

There's a pair of pink 9285s on ebay right now. And they don't come up too often anymore!

ok, so 9294's come in the 2 shades, but what about 9285's? deep red AND pink, or just pink shown above?
As far as I know, the public market 9285s came only in light pink. There was only one color code, I believe. Just check ebay every week, and make sure to click "worldwide." Also, i would really stay away from the 9294s. You may be very dissapointed with them. For some reason everyone on here insists that there is practically no difference between the 9285 and the 9294. That's wrong! There is a a difference of 5 or more mm, which translates to a big difference when you put them on your face.

Like I said in my previous post :
"b/ who looked for different colors (deep red and faded brown were exclusive to 9294), this is the main reason that made me buy the faded brown ones."

;-)

9285 existed in :
light pink
light faded green
solid brown (with gold arms I believe)
dark gray
dark blue
if my memory serves me right...

others colors you may have seen on bono are custom for him (orange, light blue, red...)

I guess this is probaby a silly thing to say, but if you can get ANY pair of EA Vertigo tour looking glasses, Red logo or not, what you think is pink or light red or whatever, and with any color arms, NOONE is going to be able to tell the difference. I've got two pairs - one that I got reallllly early out that had no Red logo and one that I got later that had a red logo, and there's zero difference in the coloring in my opinion. Size? I haven't a proper tailor's tape to measure it exactly but trust me +/- a few mm isn't going to make a considerable difference if you get them fitted properly at an opticians, again IMO. I have no idea what these model numbers are, the numbers wore off long ago.

Those pics on page 34 prove nothing other than two very very different lighting conditions, and the angle the flash hits the lens also comes into play. I think it's worthy to note that (if I'm not mistaken) when Bono started wearing the truly "custom" EAs, it was light blue and orange that he was rockin mostly. Maybe there's some other pics disproving that

BTW...before using pics to try to "prove" anything, consider the following two:

This is what was available to the public as far as 9285s--nothig less, nothing more. I would suggest that you would be lucky to find just ANY color these days. The dark blue would be the KJ1 and the grey (not dark but shaded) would be the 6LB/00.

Thanks to Moonwalker. Tomcat, and gvox for the EA 9285/9294 tutorial. Much appricated.

Anyone of you care to tackle the EA 1535's? as before, i am a visual learner. LOL. I'm wondering how they differ from the other EA's, colors available, do they ever pop up on ebay? how much did Bono wear these ones?

That's great and all but none of those have the Red symbol, so I guess there was just a few more that were offered to the public ;)

Besides, just a few posts ago you said that the 9285s only came to the public in the light pink (which, of course, we know isn't true).

The 9285 pinks came ONLY in light pink, isn't that correct?? The above photo is actually just a graphics page, not an actual photo of the glasses so it wouldn't show the logo. That list is indeed all that was offered to the public. I bought all the available colors at EA in Beverly Hills. They told me at the store that the above list is all that was made available in the 9285, and they all had the RED logo.

Yes, there is only one type of "pink". It looked like you were contradicting yourself by saying that pink was the only 9285. I get you now.

Anyways...my 3YG/Q0 (dark brown-green/gold) had NO logo. My 6LB/2S pink aren't all that light, and the first pair I bought had no logo, the second pair did. The 6LB/D6 (green) I got further into the tour had a logo.

That photo of the glasses you presented...your explanation ie it being a graphic so it wouldn't show the logo, I think is not entirely accurate. Fact is, the original 9285s didn't have the Red logo, as mentioned I have 2 pairs to prove it, and the original listings on the various sites had no logo. Also, there were pictures on various retailer sites once Red was launched that clearly showed the glasses with the logo. At one point Giarre had both the old pinks AND the Red line listed. That picture you presented was more than probably taken of the glasses before the Red launch, as they were originally intended to be sold ie without the logo.

I don't know who told you that the 9285s were only available with a Red logo, but that's not really true at all. I'm almost positive there's someone else in this group who has an original pair of 9285s that came without the logo

Hello folks

I have the rose 1535's and they are absolutely STUNNING! Nothing like 9285 at all. The lenses are very similar to Bvlgari 519 and have 2 seperate lenses as apposed to 9285's 1. The arms are much thinner and much more delicate.

Bono worn 1535 at the start of the Vertigo shows. Chicago DVD, Milan DVD, City of Blinding Lights video etc. From a distance they do look like 9285 but close up they are much nicer. I will post pics later.
