Hmm, well Red Zone sounds like the kind of thing I'm looking for.

When do they have the Red Zone auctions? I suppose that is separate from the Presales?

Do they hold the auction on ticketmaster.com?

Thank you again for all the responses its been very helpful.

Here in Europe LiveNation has decided we weren't paying enough for Red Zone tickets and has instead decided to rob us for €250-€272 each

Yes, the auction occur on Ticketmaster.com, separate from the Presale. For Oakland, Edmonton and Toronto presale starts today and those RZ auctions start tomorrow.

bonocomet, i was RZ on edge's side also, midsection about 3 rows deep. the bridge stopped just to our left during UF and Bono came down the bridge slowly and stopped right in front of us. I remember this as one of the ultimate highlights for our section. Just hearing that track live for maybe the first or second time only ( i may have seen it in 87 or 88 -- can't recall ) was incredible, but having Bono so close made it almost surreal.

I also thought MOS was incredible. After seeing that and UC live I think those are the best tracks they've written since Walk On... What were some of your favorite moments?

Also wondering, were you close to that foreign looking guy who got thrown out of RZ by like 5 security gaurds? This guy wanted to kill some pony-tail haired dude in front of us. Kinda of rare to see this at a U2 show... Meanwhile everyone cheered when they escorted that guy out. Hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did. Can't wait till Anaheim in June....

Ah cool  I remember that part in UF and Bono came by quite a few times that I remember! All of them did so we were happy. As far as highlights I remember 2 well. I've copied what I posted in another thread :reject:  (this was our first time in GA (actually I should say on the floor, not GA really) and on the rail at that!)

A couple things that were fun for us. During Crazy Tonight, Larry did one mad run on his way back to the drum kit, but as he passed the 4 of us on the rail we screamed out to him and he just halted right there and smiled and played the djembe for us for awhile right in front of us

Also when Adam passed once we bowed to him and I don't know if he isn't used to that on Edge's side or not because he looked down and paused and smiled.

Hmm... yeah, we are not tall people. So that is a factor.

However, I'd be willing to pay a high price... I suppose up to $500 a ticket if need be. $300 sounds reasonable if it has to be. Anything cheaper is gravy.

So, is there anything better than the Red Zone?

I guess if the Red Zone isn't that great, we'd just go with the seats.

Thanks for the responses.

In Vegas we had seats 8 rows up directly behind where we stood in the red zone in LA. Paid almost the exact same price too! And BOTH ways were great and worth every penny. The seats gave such a similar view as we were still right there, imagine 8 rows behind the RZ is not too much. Then again, it was Vegas, a very small stadium. But the seats were less stressful, you got your seat, no stress. RZ had the bit of stress factor at the time when the gates opened because you still have a bit of a scramble if you know you want a certain spot. (Especially the Rose Bowl since the tunnels coming into the stadium open at mid stadium level so we had to book it down half the stadiums stairway to the field. But once there, there's nothing like the energy and feeling of being down there, where you can actually make eye contact with the band. And it is at least for me infinitely better than doing the GA way because there just are not that many other people there, none of the GA stress and crowds (if you want to be up front). I would do it both ways again. :)

Yep, looks like they're staying with Auctions for RedZone in North America. Toronto opens at $130, and Oakland and Edmonton open at $135.

Thanks for the help. Sounds like I can't go wrong either way.

I'm in a dilemma now though because I want to make sure I get tickets, and if the RZ auctions take place after the presales... and I wait for the auctions, I could lose and end up with no tickets.

At the same time, RZ sounds like the ideal place to be. What to do?

I guess I'm just gonna have to try to get in on the presale and get the closest seats I can get by the red zone.

Any other tips?

Oh yeah, I did forget about the stress of the Red Zone auction itself. THAT was stressful beyond belief. :crack:  Especially those final minutes... it was HORRIBLE!
So yeah, there is that dilemna... sorry!

purchase the best seats available with your presale code. if u are perfectly happy with those, stay with them. Or if your not sure bid on the RZ auction that comes later, and if you win then keep the RZ and sell the seats. This is exactly what I did for the rose bowl. you should have no problem selling ur seats for face value...

In all of the auctions it was assigned after you won your tickets. You didn't know what you were gonna get. The confirmation email they send when you win says either Red1 or Red2. (The sides were switched though in Europe and US)

:hmm: not sure if I want to do that and take my chances of winning but then ending up on Adam's side. I only would want to be on Edge's side. Thanks for the info!!!

I would be cautious about buying the top-price tickets if there is the possiblility you'll want to re-sell them. On this tour, the market for premium tickets is very small, and it consists largely of superfans who buy their tickets early - or are looking for the $55 GA tickets.

I haven't researched it, but you might want to browse the Want/Have forum or ebay to see if anybody was successful in selling $250 seats at face value.

hibricc... you may be right, I'm in LA so had no trouble selling the price level 1 seats for face value $ 280 each inc fees... actually i sold 4 to a friend and he then turned around and sold all 4 (at face value) since he couldn't go... depending on the city maybe getting rid of price level 1 seats could be more difficult...

by the way, nice town... i grew up in falmouth, went to falmouth high... the cape is one of the most beautiful spots in the country, i go back every summer...

I felt like I won the lottery when I got Edge's side. However, as it turned out, Adam and Larry were the 2 during our show who actually came up to us and smiled and made eye contact. :cute: (Edge and Bono did also pass by lots of times too tho)

That's so funny Bonocomet, because prior to the show, I was a wee bit envious of you Redzoner 1's, to have Edge's side, because I was in RZ2. It turned out to be great on Adam's side, he came over a lot, Bono was there a lot and actaully sang the begining of UF right to us, Crazy Tonight all of them were right in front of us for a long time, and I generally thought it was a great side to be on. I think either side is great, after all, its a U2 concert up close, it really doesn't matter which side you get!

You're right; values were particularly inflated for the Pasadena show - witness the $550 RedZone auction! There's a lot of money out there....

by the way, nice town... i grew up in falmouth, went to falmouth high... the cape is one of the most beautiful spots in the country, i go back every summer...

I grew up in the mid-Cape, went to D-Y. Funny, we fancied ourselves Barnstable's big rival - until you actually ask Barnstable kids, and it turns out their big rival was actually Falmouth!

I actually lived in Ohio for six years after college, but there's something about the Cape that draws people home. Moved back during the Zooropa tour (this is a U2 board, after all), and I can't imagine living anywhere else now..... especially given how many times U2 plays here vs. the midwest!

Wow, I hope all these newbies bidding on these new auctions know what they're doing.

Then let's remind them:

This ain't ebay. If you win one of these auctions, you pay what you bid, even if it is hundreds of dollars more than the winning minimum.

Unless you won't be around during the last minutes of the auction, NEVER BID MORE THAN THE MINIMUM, as you will only drive up the price unnecessarily AND cost yourself money. (If you decide that you're willing to pay up to $250, and you bid that much, that is what you will pay - even if the closing minimum bid is less.)

And if you're bidding on the Backstage Tour, know that if you do NOT win that auction (a good possibility, since there are very few of these packages available), you will automatically win the regular Red Zone tickets at the price you bid for the Backstage Tour, which is usually hundreds of dollars more than if you had only bid on the ticket auction.

Please, bid carefully....

Nice explanation, hibrcc!

Was just about to post that, rr!
You beat me to it.
Unbelievable.
Is Steve Jobs bidding on those or something? LOL
Of course, there is probably lots of people who have a lot of money in the Bay Area.

Edmonton is at CA $1,005.00 and Toronto at CA $505.00.

Oakland - Red Zone Backstage Tour - $ 1,255.00 :yikes:

OMG! These people have to think that Bono is going to be personally leading them around backstage to bid that much, right? Wow, are they going to be disapointed when they find out the truth!

Continue here.

Lastest auctions are Raleigh ($220), just finished,

Norman ($115) 1 Hour to go

Houston ($130) 1 Hour to go

Dallas ($160) 1 Hour to go

Vegas ($305) 3 Hours to go
---------------
thanks for sharing... it's giving me an idea of how much this will cost me for next year!

What's unbelievable is that this auction just started a couple of hours ago. That's just crazy, unless of course it is people with a lot of money who are doing this for the charity.
