U2 shoot new promo video in Dublin
U2 shot the promo video for their upcoming single 'Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own' in Dublin this week.
The band's official website reports that the Gaiety Theatre was the venue for the shoot.
The band worked once again with director Phil Joanou, who also helmed the 'Rattle and Hum' movie, the video for 'If God Will Send his Angels' and the upcoming US promo for 'All Because of You'.
The famous Dublin theatre has sentimental links for singer Bono: his late father Bob performed there as a member of the Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society and the song is dedicated to him.
"It's a portrait of him," said Bono. "He was a great singer, a tenor, a working class Dublin guy who listened to the opera and conducted the stereo with my mother's knitting needles."
"He just loved opera, so in the song, I hit one of those big tenor notes that he would have loved so much. I think he would have loved it, I hope so."
