Shame tickets for the European leg hadn't been released - it would of made the difference in the UK. I read that the gap between #5 and #1 was 18k albums.

I think US sales may have been boosted by the tour tickets/album bundle.

Over 10 years without a hit single doesn't help. Promo in the UK has been very weak, a very low key release. I really hope that the BBC show boosts sales of the album. I expected a top 3 chart position in the UK at least. Very disappointed.

Give it a rest. What has that got to do with SOE's chart performance? UK promotion has been pretty weak from what I've seen. I expect a boost after the BBC show is televised.

It's all about the taxes. There were always haters before, but it tipped the neutrals (vast majority) into the haters camp. It made U2 look hypocritical and has undermined Bono's credibility as an anti poverty campaigner.

That is really disappointing. I was hoping this week would lead up to the next single release/ tour announcement. This will delay things and stop the momentum that's been gathering....:down:

Not bad. Hopefully those not too familiar will not notice Bono forgetting the words in the second chorus :doh: I much prefer the album version, but it seems that the general consensus is that acoustic plays best with the masses. Better get this out as a single quick.

My experience was very similar - I'm 31 and got into U2 with ATYCLB. That was a huge album for me and the general perception of U2 was that they were a cool band. They were seen as kind of the thinking person's band at school, and whilst at uni I had a great time discovering their whole back...

I don't buy it...they'll release a 'lots of hits' chart friendly single to lead the album at least 2 weeks before. Invisible, as good as it is, isnt the lead single. I think it makes more sense for U2 to ride on the invisible/ordinary love wave until the oscars then drop the proper lead single...

Wow!!! Certainly gets better after several listens...I really like it, this bodes well for the album. Fresh, with a slight Killers twist...only criticism is that it could have a longer Edge guitar solo...which is probably on the extended version.:hyper::applaud:

Has anyone read the sister article to the "experimenting with other producers" one? 'Invisible' will debut during Super Bowl, then help raise funds for fight against AIDS - Invisible not the lead single. - A proper lead single has already been identified. - Album is still targeted for the summer.
