Ok. Say the same to the guy calling us assholes, maybe?

Dude. I have moral superiority over no one. I’m an asshole that talks shit all day all night. You know that. Rudy sucks and so do Bernie bros. So fuck you.

the irony of this (and asking the mod to step in) immediately after you just tried to shit talk me for "reverting to victim mode" is absolutely glorious.

I think maybe you should take a step back and read your own posts, and then decide if you still think it's wise to assign maturity levels to other people's posts.

You should read not only your own, but everyone else’s. Most people agree that the notion of a 78-year-old man showing up to score political points only is stupid, especially when people like Rand Paul are scoring political points by intentionally showing up to work carrying a disease that would give someone like Bernie Sanders a 25% chance of dying.

Did you forget? He had a freaking heart attack.

Instead of wagging your finger humorously targeting Sanders’ integrity (what on earth has Sanders done to suddenly seem to lack integrity in your eyes?), maybe consider pointing your energy at something that literally everyone on both sides of the isles will agree is stupid: Congress is mass gathering because they’re required to do so, when in times like this they should absolutely be voting remotely.

Nothing but respect to you. I wouldn't want your position in having to remain neutral in modding a political thread. Just only asking to maybe look in the direction of the guy calling everyone and asshole for having a different opinion. Kind of creates hostility especially in uncertain times. That's all.

He made his point in a confrontational way, I'll grant you that. But you've yet to respond to the actual point he's making, which is, I dare say, pretty reasonable, and are instead going after him personally.

I meant what I said. I can be an asshole too and I know it. And just because Diemen chose to single my post out instead of yours doesn't mean that you shouldn't tone it down and own it too.

But anywho, I apologize. Stressful times for all and just didn't appreciate being referred to as an asshole repeatedly.

Hope all is well, Dave.

I'm not even paying attention to who is there and who isn't there, for the sake of this country I just hope they don't start dropping like flies. Things are bad enough without Trump rule by executive order.

I'd have much easier time believing the whole "he didn't show up Sunday because he is trying to protect his health" if, ya know, he wasn't on the floor of the Senate today.

Maybe the fact he’s had a heart attack at his age means he should take a back seat wjth the whole Presidential thing....

And I’m not downplaying Biden’s mental health either but that’s a little more difficult to gauge since he’s Always screwed up his speech (from conditions he can’t control with stuttering, and the fact he’s an odd dude)

It's just such a stupid thing to even debate about. It's like he's beyond reproach. Oh, can't insult Bernie!

He bailed to stream an open house with AOC. He didn't bail because of concern about his health. If that were the case he wouldn't be there today. A week after cursing out a reporter for asking about the campaign during a pandemic he bailed on a vote to do campaign work.

It's a bad look, but ultimately no big deal because a) the news cycle moves so fast nobody will remember and, b) he has no chance at winning.

I would argue that it’s frustrating how obsessed with going after him you and others get, when there’s nothing really there.

Like, how many times are we going to hear Bernie is a sexist, a racist, a misogynist, etc etc, when I don’t believe he’s once been on record for having said anything worthy of those labels?

Or how he “doesn’t want to be president.”

Or how he’s “just like Trump” with his supposed huge ego.

Yeah, you’ll trigger peoples’ defensiveness when you say baseless shit. You’re literally looking for ways to criticize someone that aren’t real. Criticize him for being “too left” or not capable of winning against Trump and those are all your opinions that you’re entitled to. Go running out attempting to make a dilemma or controversy over something that isn’t there and you really just enforce people to get annoyed by you.

Though honestly, in that sense he’s just like Trump. Waste your breath on fake narratives against Trump and you destroy your own credibility on one of the gazillions of things you can criticize Donald Trump for.

I hear your point and get it, but at the same time, Bernie takes such hard stances that I think he opens himself up with criticism. Comes with the territory, and maybe that's not fair to him. I think, and I can attest to this, that I was very turned off by his stubbornness in 2016 in exiting the race. Personally, I have so much anger towards Donald Trump and I want him removed so badly that any perceived threat draws anger from me as well. If, and I know with the crisis everything is up in the air, he were to stay in the race and make Biden look bad when he has no shot of winning the nomination, then I would look at Bernie as a threat to kicking Donald out. Doesn't mean that I don't agree with a lot of Bernie's views, I just want Donald out that bad.

Who here has said this?

It wasn't

Ok tks. It was posted right after my post so that's the reason I thought it could be. I didn't know he didn't vote while doing some event with AOC. I think it was a coronavirus event? At least it was productive in that respect if it was.

They can't even get a stimulus bill passed, so at this point they're all a huge disappointment to me.

i really think those of you railing against a 78 year old man for not literally risking his health/life to go and cast a pointless vote are being huge assholes.

any responsible person would never in a million years encourage their grandfather with a bad heart to go into that situation and it's really, really shitty to attack sanders for not ignoring medical advice and attending congress, almost guaranteeing he'll catch an illness that has a high risk of killing him, to cast what amounts to a symbolic vote.

I agree, yes disagree with him on most things (though I do respect his conviction) I don't want to see him die for mikes sake. He is making the right choice

amen sister--Govt Dysfunction on display right now (Both Parties)

Why must people always say this? One party is trying to slip through giveaways to corporations, with no strings on stock buybacks, along with hidden language that doesn't allow money to be used for medicaid or abortion providers, and one is trying to give relief to actual workers, and less wealthy, and put guidelines in place for corporate bailouts. But this is dysfunction of both parties?

ok.

If anyone is wondering how eliminating student debt is relevant right now, I pay $1000 a month in student loans. If $10,000 was wiped away, and payments frozen, I could support my sister with that $1000, who is pregnant and has three kids and is going to file for bankruptcy for her business because there’s no viable way to save it. Canceling that student loan debt does very little in the way of damaging the economy.

I can’t think of a better time to cancel student loan debt.

Absolutely. This is by far the best way to give real ongoing income to millions of people, with zero effort or complication.

Even if they cut all loans by half it would be a big help.

Just to make it clear, I don't support any of that. Typical GOP behavior.

Even Trump said he didn't want stock buybacks happening. Not that his word is worth much. Mitch probably called him and Trump said ok.

What I meant was that the stimulus bill should be focused on small business and individual workers and that it's truly dysfunctional that the Republicans don't see that and it's same old same old. What makes it dysfunctional as a body is that the people represented are the ones left in the lurch. Every time.

The Dems are really bad at their messaging which is why they continue to be lumped into both sideism

The GOP, once they have their message are a machine. They dominate the airwaves. They do not give in one inch and it changes the public narrative.

I will say the Dems have done a little better with the 500 billion slush fund messaging but the GOP are still winning the battle.

First Tucker Carlson, now this dipshit.

A lot of people having their come to Jesus moment on this.

And I don't care what bullshit Trump spews about ending the social distancing in a week. By then you'll have well over 1,000 dead and tens of thousands infected, likely surpassing Italy. Saving the economy sounds great in the abstract, but dead parents, grandparents, neighbours, spouses are a hell of a lot more real.

Totally agree. I wasn't replying to your post. But all I'm saying is that we have two parties so that one can't just pass whatever they want. This impasse is only because Democrats want to make the bill better for working people, small businesses, local governments, etc. and stopping slush funds and stock buybacks. That's not dysfunction, but literally the definition of how our system should function when one party, with some moral compass, has to step in to try and do all they can to stop a party of greedy, corporate knob-sucking, goons.
