Waiting for Arcade Fire to start here in Brooklyn. NSW is somewhere below me in the douchebag seats. Try to locate him and aim some beer at the guy.

Yes, it works. And she'd look much cooler screaming down the 405 with "Creeping Death" blaring out the windows than "Yellow Moon"

It's called a fiesta, maybe we were going the wrong direction here and need to be linking mariachi bands.

I was supposed to see a mariachi band today, but I stood outside in a line for two hours, instead.

We have seen thirty minutes of music today.

I have been here since 2:45. I have seen one band. Real Estate.

Tried to see Todd Terje, but security is so incompetent that a crowd of 5000 shut down an arena. They literally closed off the entrances because it was "at capacity." There are 50,000 people here total and 10% of that crowd is allowed to see those arena bands.

At one point or another this summer I had tickets to P4K and Riot Fests... I want to cry, just a little, but I can't stop laughing.

I'm just now reading about the FYF Fest clusterfuck. Wow. It's not like this is a new festival, so the utter lack of organization is baffling. Not sure how they can have only one entrance for so many people.

Yeah, when I heard only the floor of the arena was open, I had a feeling it would be crazy.

I'm now thinking I won't even try for a last minute wristband tomorrow.

It's a damn shame because the performances and sound mixing have been excellent. Tycho sounds amazing.

Yep.

Any opportunity you have to see Against Me is one you should take. It's always a party.

Can't speak highly enough of Slowdive. Wonderful discography that had a lot of added depth live.

Tycho had beautiful visuals and made my eardrums happy.

Now I'm off to see Boris, which basically means I've seen four bands today with either nonexistent or indecipherable lyrics.

I didn't realize Boris became a speed metal band recently. Oh.

I came here only having heard Feedbacker and Flood, so I expected post-rock or sludge metal.

Didn't even stay for Phoenix. Already saw them headline a festival once and my legs are killing me. 9 hours of standing in various lines can do a number on a guy.

Grimes dances and dresses like a teenage girl in front of a mirror holding a hairbrush.

Aimee Mann, Ted Leo, and Allison Brie were guests of Paul F Tompkins tonight at Largo for his variety show. Funny show, solid lineup, good crowd, and it was my first time at the venue- I love the small courtyard before the stage.

Never heard the Leo/Mann collaborations before but it was great stuff and I've gotta remember to follow up on that. I'm not sure if they were playing along with PFT or not but Leo said the two of them are writing a musical together?

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

This was Interpol's crowd tonight. I can't imagine how much of a clusterfuck Phoenix must have been.

Can't speak highly enough of Slowdive. Wonderful discography that had a lot of added depth live.
This. I saw them live a week ago and it was amazing. Great soundmix as well. You could here everything very clear which isn't always the case with shoegaze bands.

Just curious...In the context of this discussion, like who? Do we need to trot out our own personal experiences before we comment? Rollins did, as you noted. Again, not saying I agree with him 100% but its not like he is writing from a place of complete ignorance, or by his own claims, anyways..

I just see people like that spew forth a lot of ignorance. There were hundreds, thousands of comments on the internet along the lines of "what did he have to be depressed about?"

Honestly I would have shared his opinion a few years ago. I remember a distant relative who I never knew hung herself and was discovered by her 11yo daughter a few years ago and I was enraged. How can you leave these people behind to pick up the pieces?

But from what I've learnt in the past couple of years, people who are driven to the point of suicide don't exactly have the capacity to just simply "stop" themselves from doing it, because of what will be left behind. You make a good point, people shouldn't have to qualify themselves before speaking, but to me Rollins seemed to be implying that suicidal people should just not do it. That they should just think about what will be left behind and just not do it. It's not like that.

Agreed IWB. plus, I think there's way more people who don't have a fucking clue about depression posting touchy feely social media responses that clearly show how little they understand than people who are writing from a place of grief, anger, bewilderment, similarly suicidal feelings, you name it - all of which are legitimate responses to suicide - and these are the people the rest of the world needs to hear from. Not from that idiotic Facebook friend who posts "just reach out snd talk to someone!!11!" but wouldnt be able to recognize depression or a cry for help in a friend if it literally clubbed them over the head. They're the ones that need to stfu, Imo

I do really like this though

Already happened over a week ago. Wasn't much of a rant though, thought it was genuinely nice.

Russell Brand: Robin Williams’ divine madness will no longer disrupt the sadness of the world | Comment is free | The Guardian

That was nice. It's not about politics or a revolution I guess.
