What did you expect me to do, after you took away Mother's mace?

(please pretend it's Lucille saying that, and not smirky Bono. .... or not. It works coming out of that mouth, too.)

Sounds to me like she's saying she wants to buy the box set, and that she owns a DVD player (and not a Blu-ray).

The movie will get a separate release from the remaster ? Good.

it almost definitely will :) would be very very stupid of them to assume people would buy a deluxe/UBER set JUST to get the film...that really would be taking fans for a ride. moreso.

I don't know...

DVDs such as this aren't really bought by casual or even "medium" fans. Music DVDs(especially documentaries) are bought by diehards. So I can't see a big market for this DVD stand alone. But who knows?

Ah really? Whereabouts are you from may I ask? Just asking cause in the UK i always see plenty of music DVDs available when i got into music shops. it's obviously a fairly niche thing compared to, for example, the new season of glee on DVD (shudder) but they're always readily available I find which is great.

I bet they'll make a load in selling it to TV channels worldwide for further exposure at some point which would shift a few copies [of the dvd] not to mention raise awareness/interest in the album itself for anyone unfamiliar with it, which will conveniently be on sale as a mega box set so two birds, one stone

How many band documentaries or even concert DVDs of bands that you are just a casual fan of have you bought?

Yeah. That was pretty obvious to anyone who possesses basic reading comprehension skills :)

I do not want to read 26 pages to find this out...

....so IS the album re-mastered or is it not? :reject:

Wow. This seems like something they would announce and freaking clear up all the confusion among the fans.

I think there's some sort of "submit your questions via Twitter" event going on tomorrow in conjunction with the Guggenheim movie, and HOPEFULLY the band will be inundated with questions about remastering.

I don't know that they would be aware of every topic of conversation amongst tens of fans on the internet. (Even on their own forum.)

six, permit me to name them.

The Promise
No Direction Home
Some Kind Of Monster
Jandek On Corwood
The Kids Are Alright
StarShaped (Blur documentary, only one that contributed to me becoming a massive fan of a band like I am of Blur today)

all great dvd's.

not everybody's like me, but come on it's not completely unthinkable for this documentary to come out separately

They live in a bubble - that's NOT a crticism, all hugely successful, wealthy music stars do. But I did expect better from their marketing people. After all, it's not like the casual music fan is going to be buying these boxsets. We, the harcore contingent will be, we're going bananas over the remaster issue, and U2's people seem oblivious. That's disappointing.

You're a rarity...

And I didn't say it was unthinkable, BUT historically these types of DVD sales are very small and focus on niche markets. So basically this DVD and the deluxe package are targeted towards the same exact market, so don't be suprised if you don't see it sold separately it just doesn't make a lot of marketing sense.

Smarter business says they release it to Showtime and a few OnDemand type markets.
