The first girl I ever kissed broke up with me on the phone while I was playing that game, actually.

Sigh. 2007 was a simpler time.

I hope that was on Mon Gazza Raceway, and not one of those fucked-up, race-through-wormholes-with-big-fucking-rocks-in-mid-air tracks.

Really, really digging this band at the moment. All of their music sounds different, so it kind of blows as far as recommending their music to people is concerned, but I've seldom had more fun listening to new music this year. Should be all you need to know.

I saw them a year or so ago. They sucked so bad. Good to know their record is enjoyable. Maybe they just suck (real bad) live.

Oh God, I'll bet they're still terrible live. They always sound like they're on the verge of collapse, and the mix is overloaded with all kinds of shit at all times; not the best for live sound distribution, but definitely great for headphones. They give me that same thrill I felt hearing Fang Island for the first time, only their music is a lot trippier.

Okkervil River are touring here later in the year. I might go, depending on prices. Live shows usually turn me into a big fan and they're quite good live, y'all say.

Well, like I just mentioned a few hours ago, the one time I saw them they were horrid, but I'm still a fan. I think the size of the crowd might have unnerved them.

They were playing in a bar with a $10 cover. My friends and I stayed long enough to make fun of them and then we left. But other people seemed to really enjoy them. In fact, if you ever want to see ranchers looking like they're tripping, go see White Denim in a bar in Texas.

After breaking the bank with 4 U2 shows this summer, I hear about this free Arcade Fire show in my hometown, and now I'm tempted to come back for that one. I need help and I need to be stopped!

You won't find any help here, just us enablers.

On the day that I was initiated into the fraternity of doucebag seatholders, my recommendation re: that free Arcade Fire show is obvious.

Glad I could turn a few of you onto War on Drugs. I have only heard clips and one song but I'm in love.

In The live videos I've seen of them the lead singer was such a douche, I've been off the band ever since, and I was REALLY into them too.

That is the second time this week that I have heard Sheff accused of douche-baggery. A friend of mine who used to live in Austin leveled that charge at him on account of his apparent habit of wearing a scarf in 100-degree weather. I am not sure how legitimate a reason that is for calling someone a douche, though.

I would say that is absolutely legitimate. That is the definition of hipster douchebaggery if you ask me.

I can't think of too many douchier moves than that, frankly.

And yet I STILL like the band.

I am really bummed I didn't get that Japanese bloke's name that I met at DJ Shadow. Not only so I could say

Some of my best friends are Japanese

<>

But because he had fucking kick ass taste in music. Don't know why I kept walking.

Sheff sounds like an asshole on record, like most incredibly earnest vocalists. I haven't read any interviews or anything with him though.

I've read a few interviews that have come off as fairly pretentious, but I feel like that's almost to be expected from "the scene"

A few years ago I was watching ACL footage at my uncle's house, and I can't find video proof of this now, but after one of the songs Sheff starts talking to the crowd. At first it was normal banter and I'm all, "Whatever." but then he starts going on about, "Forget all of those other bands today, we need your energy, give us your applause, not any of the other bands, give it to us." etc. etc. and, just to me at least, I found that, not just D-baggy, but also just really rude. The festival atmosphere usually is much friendlier. Even bands that might not like each other give props to those who are playing before/after them. It's just what you do.

The 2007 thing was a joke. Apparently a very bad one. That game came out in 1999.
Oops. Don't judge the quality of the joke by my response.

A Dutch friend of mine is a SW freak and told me that.

My aunt's dog's name was Darth Anne. She was a huge Great Dane. (The dog, not my aunt.)

"I felt a great disturbance in the 'Fork, as if millions of hipsters suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced."

How's your sore arm?
