WAS is good on record, but it's not a live song. Perhaps better than IALW in the studio version, but no way would it be better than IALW live .(which pwns both Stuck and Elevation but got played way less...go figure).

Not when I saw it live. Elevation >>> all ATYCLB songs live, and yeah, anything > Stuck acoustic.. but I was not impressed with IALW at all, rather bored actually.

I agree on that. It works great on record, but unless they'd do some major changes with the arrangement it would probably bore most of the audience. I also think Stuck should go. An acoustic segment in the show is great, but I think songs like Desire and Angel of Harlem (or perhaps even AIWIY) works better. Stuck may be more known as a song, but listening to the Rose Bowl-show I feel that it was the weakest point of the setlist.

WAS would need an orchestral arrangement on stage and somehow I just don't see U2 doing this. IF they decided to play the song, I suspect they'd settle for some kind of accoustic version. I don't think that would work. I guess WAS would just suffer the fate of Electrical Storm - some nice attampts but not a long live carreer.

That is more or less 8 weeks as the doctors orders were but I agree, they said minimum of 8 weeks. Perhaps they are still hoping to be back on time for the 21st and if that can't be done, they'll let us know that Edge had Bono chained down and the tour will resume a couple of weeks later, at the expense of another couple of shows.

Ahhhh A voice of reason.

This leaves them some wiggle room ,as Paul's announcment unclearly, clearly did...as did the Edge did also .

The Edge said " NO physical movement for "at least" 8 weeks.

Paul said " it is expected....."

As I said before, they have left themselves some room with the Aug 6th date.

Spoken like a true Promoter.

The poster above has it right . my opinion

Yes because Bono wasn't moving "physically" since the surgery. Laughable. He was up and moving just days after surgery and he's fine. He has been seen walking around in public on several occassions since he left hospital, so there's plenty of "physical movement", including the therapy he has to take.

He'll probably take it slow for these rehearsals and stay in intensive physical therapy, but, unless something totally unexpected happens, I don't see them postponing any more dates. All the official statements including Live Nation and the recent U2 video hint toward a regular start of the tour, no cautious wording here.

Please stop scaring people who are looking forward to the concert. I'm sure if Bono wasn't fit enough by now, they would already have issued a statement and postponed the tour or some dates. It's not like he's had emergency surgery now. I'm sure they've taken any precautions that are necessary.

oh, you're bono's personal physician?

you're quite obviously a troll, give it up.

Even after the video from u2.com your still going round trying to scare people?

I'd expect Bono to take it easy during the first month of the tour. He probably won't be running around too much if at all... I'm sure the rest of the band will make up for it and move around the catwalk more.

Bono's never been known for playing it safe. I'm thinking they'll need leg irons to keep him on the main stage.

I wouldn't mind if Bono just concentrated on singing more and not on jumping around so much if a. he's singing better then and b. he's taking care of his back and stays fit and healthy for the rest of the shows.

Looking forward to Turin, there'll be something about that opening concert after Bono's injury...think it'll be a cracker.

That said, I really don't expect him to jump around the stage. It's one thing being able to walk again, but standing around for a good 2 hours, kneeling, stretching, jumping, running is not gonna work after a surgery if he wants to pull through another 2 months of concerts. Another person here said it correctly, I'm sure Edge and Adam will fill the void with more catwalk appearances than 2009.

Your opinion also included such lies as; you could see Bono was wearing a hard brace, you had proof he was a member of the Club of Rome, and my fave the Chief of Staff made an announcement he resigned.

Worth a lot

"my fave the Chief of Staff made an announcement he resigned." saying they are leaving is how they resign. Cant help you if you don't believe him saying it. That's your problem.

"you could see Bono was wearing a hard brace," True. again, your problem if you get it or not. Doesn't change the fact he was, mostly likely is.

Please tell me, as I have asked 100 times, when they moved the Alamo to Ft Worth, where you attended a Tea Party with Glenn Beck, where 100's of people were arrested for shouting racial slurs? Didnt happen man.

Alamo is not in Ft Worth, nor did Gleen Beck hold a rally there.

Walking is highly encouraged . Jumping around a stage is not. If you understood what he had done, you would understand what and why I am saying what I am.

There is a difference.

I didnt say postponed. I said they left enough room in the schedule to move around a bit if they needed.

Hmmm I am going to that show, so i would be dissapointed also . I would be more dissapointed if he hurt himself again.

It would be years, if ever, that he would be able to perform if he hurts himself again this soon after this surgery. You think they will risk that for 2 or 3 weeks? a month? NO way. Ypu think he is going to do the show sitting on a stool? No, not to his standards. It is not like he had his tonsils out. He had an disk(s) blow into his spinal collum. That is not a torn miniscus.

Exactly.

If they numb him up, he won''t make the 2 months.

Standing would be much more problematic than moving on stage, unless Bono makes the false moves. I'm pretty sure he's very well aware of that and will be prepared intensively. I don't think there will be a tour this summer if Bono didn't think he'd make it. For all we know, they could have postponed both legs. Bono is very fit and he's always been active. Going back to his "day job" will help him to be fully mobile again. He has good and strong muscles and has to get moving. I have great faith in Bono and the band to know what's right and how far he can go and where he shouldn't go. He's a singer, he can concentrate on his voice and let the rest of the band run around the stage. It's fine if he just sings and walks :)

And no, Bono isn't wearing a brace, just look at the latest video, Benji: I feel you're consciously avoiding the official statments, interviews and videos and like to spread your twisted version of the events here instead.

Bono will be well cared of during the tour, even on stage his three mates will watch he doesn't forget he has to be careful and he knows that we, fans, understand, we only want to see him singing again, the rest will come with time.

Coolian2, sorry, you know I tried.

no one in the u2 camp has said anything or even suggested any of this. and i would like to remind you as i did in the thread about the tour postponement that this thread is not about bono's back. it's about the upcoming concert in turin. there's a thread in this very part of the forum where this can be discussed.

also, please do not bring drama from other (and also very unrelated) parts of the forum. this isn't free your mind.

i thought Rose Bowl's version of Stuck was lovely, especially when love Bono & Edge harmonizing on it.

Angel Of Harlem worked great, I mean , check the Barcelona and Amsterdam versions , they say it all.
Stuck wasn't bad either, I think they should just keep mixing those up in the setlist.

You have no idea of what surgery he had do you?

Plus, I think they will probably have a stool or chair for him to sit on.
