Lemonade out of lemons...

It turns out my friend is playing onstage at the Twin Cities Pride Festival on Sunday. If I was going to U2, I couldn't go see her perform.

Too bad an album isn't ready to drop as that would help demand.

Where are you getting this info? If they reschedule for next summer Sparten Stadium will not be in use. Lets just wait for U2 to make the scheduling arrangements.

And I'll wager that a new Album will drop before the next tour.

Tours have been doing awfully for many acts and at this point NLOTH will be 3 years old. You just can't tour on a 3 year old album or an album with soft sale and lack of radio play, no matter who you are.

Bono dont over do it please.

I'm not expecting the cities to be in order and besides there are a lot more stadiums in Michigan (close to East Lansing) besides just MSU. I'm sure things could be figured out. I've heard that they are working on songs but it will probably be a couple years for a new album to drop. I agree with you, I hope Bono doesn't over do it either! I'm sure he won't, I'm not worried there

Why would they drop East Lansing? Didn't McGuiness say all the dates were going to be rescheduled?

I think he meant sports and stuff but if they book it far enough in advance there shouldn't be much worry if its in the spring but since the article said summer it should be no big deal.:applaud:

Well, if that was a problem they would schedule around it or move the show to somewhere else like Detroit or something.

Exactly Detroit has a bunch of stadiums. They could always check at Ann Arbor for the U of M but that would be worst case scenario. :|

Spartan Stadium will still be available for 360 next summer. I highly doubt they'll move the Michigan show from East Lansing.

But if by chance they do...

Do you guys think they could move the show to the
Pontiac Silverdome?

The Silverdome is north of Detroit- near the Palace of Auburn Hills. Yea- it's an old venue. And it's been a white elephant ever since the Lions moved to Ford Field in Downtown Detroit. But the stadium's new owners recently re-opened it as multi-purpose venue.

The Silverdome can hold over 80,000 U2 fans.

Just remember that the Silverdome was the site of U2's very first NA non-festival stadium show- back during the Joshua Tree Tour.:D

And remember that THE CLAW would not fit inside Ford Field or Comerica Park.

What do you guys think?

Since I'm driving from Wisconsin, I'd rather it stayed in E. Lansing. I'm willing to go wherever they relocate to, however.

My relatives are flying in from Oregon! Haha but I live only an hour away so they are staying with me. I agree though! I'll drive to the UP if I had to (don't know where they would play but still...)

As a person who was planning to go to Spartan Stadium with 8 other people, I surely hope that U2 doesn't drop the show as I had been hyping U2's appearance for the past year or so since most of my friends coming along have never seen U2 live before. Personally, I hope that U2 doesn't move the show to Detroit as the proximity of Lansing from Grand Rapids was the main appeal of my friends going to see U2 versus all the way over in Detroit. I have to believe many other people were also enticed by this show due to it being in a more central location in MI as opposed to the southeast corner of the state and having to battle tight downtown Detroit parking issues.

I do have some comments though about Michigan venues: The Big House in Ann Arbor wouldn't work as I don't think it has stadium lighting (U of M has never hosted a night game in the history of its football program). As for Ford Field and Comerica Park, there's no reason that the Claw couldn't fit in either of those places. Remember, U2 played Rogers Centre in Toronto which is a MLB stadium and in Dallas, the top of the spire was lopped off to make it fit in their stadium.

Maybe this is just worded strangely, but this is an odd quote:

"So what we're doing now is trying to seek availability of the buildings that we had already pretty much sold-out,

Wow first time I have seen them not refer to all shows sold out theme..... Was up with Dat????

Paul stay on task dude.....

Why the hell would Lansing be history? There is NOTHING going on in Spartan Stadium during that time of year.

It's a football stadium, not baseball.

Um....how about dropping michigan alll together and playing OHIO!! :applaud:You know, where every tour they have played at least one city, birth of Rock and Roll, MORE centrally located to a bunch more states that will not have a U2 concert (Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania)

^It's all just idle, nonsensical speculation.

I was just entertaining the idea that U2 should do a show at the newly re-opened Pontiac Silverdome- which is close to the Palace of Auburn Hills.

As I mentioned before, the Silverdome hosted U2's very first stadium show in NA.

So it was wishful thinking on my part for U2 to move the E Lansing show to suburban Detroit in order to "commemorate" that historical fact.:hmm:

I wish they would just announce the dates!!! We are planning a big family reunion trip to the Outer Banks for next summer but need to book it this summer--I'm so worried it will be the same dates as the Montreal shows--beach or Bono:hmm:

Thanks.

I just wish the background was blue!:slant:
