Ahhh, I want to see that so badly! It's playing where Sarah goes to school in another week, so we were thinking that when i go to pick her up for thanksgiving weekend (in a week here), we could see it before we come home. Jack White

I want to see It Might Get Loud. I was reading a review in Rolling Stone where it described Jimmy Page playing Whole Lotta Love. Edge and Jack White were just sitting there like this: .

Thanks girls. Knowing that other people are/have going/gone through similar things helps a lot.

I'm trying to be realistic about what I can and can't do, and I know I can't provide the social stimulation that she can get there, and at this point, that's what she needs most.

I mean, I can hold daily bingo games and all, but with me calling, and her playing (and maybe Sarah can play when she's home! Haha), it just won't be the same. ;)

 We went through this with my grandfather. It was incredibly frustrating for me(and I'm sure it was for him) when he didn't even recognize me. :( But you're doing the right thing by her. She's going to a place where there are people trained to take care of your mom.

I saw a trailer where Jack "made" a guitar. Very creative guy, I adore him.

I can appreciate Page as a guitar player. I went through a Zeppelin phase in my late teens/early 20's, have all their albums, but they bore me now. :reject: I like The Who a lot better than Zeppelin, and I find Pete Townshend much more interesting.

Aww. My grandpa had it, and it was no picnic.

The frustrating thing is, now they have drugs that slow the progression, but her family doctor won't prescribe them, and we've been waiting since Feb for her to see a specialist...I guess there aren't nearly enough of that specialty around here. :| In the 10 years that I've been dealing with her medical things, I've been very happy and grateful for excellent and timely treatment she's received, including specialists, but this had been insane and incredibly frustrating.

The thing is, she doesn't need a great deal of care at the moment, just someone to...look in on her, and guide her? Kind of someone to oversee that she's doing everything she's supposed to be doing. But in this situation, as she needs increased care, they'll give it to her. :)

Oh my...Letterman admits to affairs with female staffers??

Holy shit, I'm so out of the loop as far as pop culture goes. Sarah had to catch me up on the Jon and Kate situation tonight.

I'll have to spend this weekend on tmz or something, and catch up. :reject:

The Who  They're my 2nd favorite band.

Waiting since February to see a specialist? And why won't they prescribe her the drugs?

Have you ever seen them (the Who)?? I saw them last October (along with Liz/Snowbunny  ) and they blew me away! Amazing show. She got all teary, even though she'd kill me for saying so. I know Sami was a big fan too, she loved them.

I know, it's like everyone in FYM, all they say about Canadian health care coming true. :| But, like I said, in the past 10 years, this is the only bad experience we've had. There must be an insane shortage of that specialty in this area. We even talked to her oncologist about it, and he said that he'd see if he could get her in to see one of his colleagues any sooner, but we haven't heard anything, so I'm assuming not.

We've talked to various medical people who have told us that most family GPs routinely prescribe meds for Alzheimers/dementia, but apparently hers won't. :|

Listening to UV from AB now. this tour blows away the studio version and all other live versions. I'm completely and utterly taken with it.

And (this is a shameful confession, worthy of ZC, but I'm too ashamed to even post it there), the studio versions of songs are generally my favourites, over any live versions. But not UV, This. Tour's. Version. Rules. Period.

Nope, I've never seen them live, but I'd love to. They're the only band that I feel even a fraction as passionately about as I do U2. Who's Next is in my top 5 favorite albums.

Wow, that's awful that they won't prescribe her the drugs. And yeah, every system has it's flaws. Ugh, I'm sorry you're going through this with her. I really wish I could give you a big hug. But my arms don't stretch that far, so I guess an e-hug will have to do.

I never thought I would get to see that song played live, in person, 2 nights in a row!!!! I remember I freaked out when I saw it had been rehearsed in Barcelona. Even though I had watched youtube videos of the performance, it didn't hold a candle to it live. The lights, the microphone, everything about it was amazing! For me, the only negative to being on the outer rail was not seeing Bono swinging from the microphone.

I'm worriedabout my sister

She & her hubby have split up and i can't talk to her

She's at a hotel somewhere and isn't answer her phone cos all their friends just keep calling her. Dad has spoken to her today but i need to speak to her myself, just because she tells him she's ok doesn't mean she is. we tell each other everything so it's really hard for me.

She knows where i am and that she can call me 24/7 and i'm respecting that she wants to be alone but it's killing me cos i just want to hug her.

This sucks Wild!

But I hope that you and your sister will find the strength to carry on

If you get that chance to see them, do. Seriously. For a LONG time, I've loved them, but when it comes to my top bands, I'd never think of them. But I think it was around the time of the 9/11 Tribute to Heroes concert that it suddenly hit me how fucking amazing they are live...they have the audience eating out of their hands. As far as bands that have that ability, for me, they're right up there with U2 and Queen.

The show we saw was the second of the leg/tour, and so there was only one before us. I read that the show before us, Daltry's voice was off, but I didn't notice it at our show, it was flawless, and the setlist was amazing, I couldn't have picked a better one.

Thanks. On the plus side, we only have another 5 weeks to wait. And the lady we spoke to at the retirement home yesterday said they have lots of people in the early stages of dementia living there, and she said, as we suspected, that people like that tend to improve there, with the routine and increased socialization. We've noticed that ourselves, if it's been a few days between visits or taking her out with us somewhere, she seems worse. She's definitely better the more she's around people.

It was mind-blowingly awesome, wasn't it?

I'm definitely getting outside rail next North American leg. I don't think you can see enough in the pit. Hopefully it'll still be in the setlist.

I'd be devastated to go to a show where they cut NLOTH and UC, two of my favourites.

Weldy  How are you doing?

Random 360 gripe:they didn't give Electrical Storm a chance! It seems like Your Blue Room is going to be staying for the remainder of the leg, and I'm glad. It's a big risk to take, especially with such an obscure song. Just wish they had done the same in Europe(and here) with Electrical Storm.

Also, dropping Unknown Caller, one of the highlights of the show, is borderline criminal IMO. And if I had been at a show where they cut that and NLOTH like they did in DC, bitches would have been cut.

Speaking of other "oldies" you should see - do you like Elton John? Again, I saw him for the first time a few years ago, and it was insanely great. God, I love that man. His was one of the first singles I ever bought when I was a wee one, in the mid 70s. I've been a huge fan since I was a kid. Don't know why it took me so long to see him.

I know!!!! For all of that!!!!

i can't remember if I told you this on the phone, but on night two, I nearly lost my shit and started bawling during UC. :reject: I've heard for years about people crying at U2 shows, but I never have...if anything, I'm too in awe to cry. And I never had any particular emotional connection to that song before that night, I liked it well enough, but that was it. That night though, it "spoke" to me.

Annnd, Electrical Storm. :sniff: Want!!

I loved, loved, LOVED my spot on the rail. And I was secretly thrilled when Jem decided she wanted a rail spot instead of the pit on her birthday. We had originally planned to go on the rail for Foxboro 1 because I had wanted to see one show from that perspective, and the pit for Foxboro 2 on her birthday because she wanted to be there and well, it was her birthday, she could pick. But she liked the view on the rail. View wasn't obstructed at all for her like it was previous shows. And it was perfect. Believe it or not, it wasn't too packed either. I was expecting a lot more of a crush on the main floor than in the pit. I also disagree with people who say they didn't come across the bridges a lot. I feel they've been on the catwalk far more often this tour than during Vertigo.

Oh, and I read that about Letterman. Yeah, it was wrong what he did. But to be blackmailed over it? That's just shitty.

Hi Weldy!

Awwww you didn't tell me that. It is an emotional song. The second verse gets me a lil teary eyed.

I wouldn't call myself a fanof Elton John, but I wouldn't say I dislike him either. Was it you and Bri who wrote Elton John fanfic where he was straight? Or am I totally pulling this out of my ass? :lmao:

All of the outside rail shows I did on Vertigo, I never found it crushed or crowded at all. I found that up there, you sort of "control" your own space. IOW, if you don't let people crowd around you, they can't.

There was only one show where some idiot was pushing up against us, but other than that it was fine, a great vantage point for seeing everything.

And I'm not sure it if was luck or what, but our first night we ended up where both Bono and Edge stopped a lot, so at subsequent shows, we just kept going back to that spot.

I just sent your clone a message. I don't know if she's actually online though. She keeps her MSN up even when she's not. So I leave her random messages. :reject:

YES! I was going to write Elton John straight fic, to counter all the slash out there (which still makes no more sense to me than it did back then  )!!

I have no way of knowing this for sure, but I think that my EJ straight fic would have been a resounding success.

And....ahhhhh! Probably no one noticed this, but Sarah did - when Bono was giving his shout outs to all the celebrities at the Toronto shows, Elton's husband was there!!! He didn't mention Elton, but he did say his husband's name, David something. :)

And they're supposed to be adopting a child. Most adorable thing ever. I just hope he or she doesn't pick up Elton's diva tendencies.

I read that they weren't going to be allowed to adopt a child because Elton was too old and because they're not a traditional couple. Those were the country's rules. Lame.

I could ask you what word, but then you'd have to spell it to tell me, and then it would just make the whole thing moot, no?

If you stick around long enough, I'm sure you'll find an inadvertent error. :cute:
