^touching on that hotel you stayed at on Granville. That's not a bad one but ya that street is a bit noisy cause it's the city 'zoned' entertainment street. Should be ok on a weeknight though. It's only 3/4 of mile(1 km) or about 8 blocks from the stadium.
I did some info for people coming to Vancouver from out of town -
For budget minded people. There's several safe, clean, and inexpensive hotels to stay at in the Downtown peninsula for around C$100(currently US$86). It would be hard to find anything cheaper that would be desirable. Unless you have a deal with a flight/hotel package or some special deal advertised than it can cost upwards $130+ a night for your Best Westerns or Holiday Inns. I'll post some hotels that I know of personally.
As for getting to the stadium and distances. Everywhere in the Downtown Vancouver peninsula, including the stadium is walking distance and able to do within 20 mins. The downtown area is where most restaurants, tourist stuff, etc., is located. Think of it as a mini Manhattan. The downtown is served by 3 metro/subway lines(called Skytrain), one of which stops at the stadium, but if you're staying downtown then walking is just easier anyway. The newest line is a subway connecting the airport directly with downtown in 25 mins.
Here's some budget hotels for around $100 or less located on the central shopping street - Robson Street - that connects straight to the stadium. They're not fantastic but their clean, been refurbished, safe, and central.
