U2: Letterman's House Band for a FULL WEEK

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Can someone clarify something? 'House Band' would mean that U2 wouldn't just be the musical guest for five nights, but they'd be out there with Paul Shaffer and his band for the entirety of all five shows in addition to performing their own songs. Is that what's happening or was 'House Band' just an incorrect labeling?

They won't ask U2 questions. If you sound too excited for U2, they'll give up your tickets. They always want LETTERMAN fans. I once asked who the guest was and they said "you should be excited to see Dave, it shouldn't matter who is his guest." It's a long day of waiting in different lines and what not. All worth it though. Dave comes out before the show and chats with the audiance and gets to know some people. I love it when he puts inside jokes between him and the audiance from before the show, into the show itself. Dave is a cool dude

Just got back from watching them perform "Breathe" on Letterman! Television and even the cd cannot do justice to how great that song is live. They look and sound amazing. They seem younger than ever and Bono's voice is in top form! The audience loved it and so did the band! It was exciting as hell! The rest of the show was actually pretty funny too but U2 blew off the roof. Wonder how it will translate on TV but regardless it was an amazing experience and the tour is going to be Magnificent!!! errrr..

Cool! But what's wrong about Breathe studio version?

Right, but not in dreams they really believe that everybody's there for Dave. Ok it's his show, but it's not like Stand Up Comedy :)

Thanks for the report and for the video!

Friday's show was also taped tonight; has anyone heard what song they did?

Absolutely nothing it is just mind blowing live which from the other video clips of them performing this song I have seen dont live up to what it sounds like live. Those are usually small and poor quality though so hopefully it comes through better on Dave tonight! :)

I went to Letterman about 7 years ago, with guests Richad Simmons & Giselle Bundcen.

Richard Simmons dressed as a giant turkey (it was right before Thanksgiving), made a big fuss. When he tried to hug Letterman (who has a bad neck, and every guest is instructed not to touch him), Letterman yelled "Somebody get this fucking fag off me!"

Obviously, that line didn't make it on air.

 I heard (maybe hearsay) that the model for Krusty the Clown was David Letterman. That makes a little more sense now....
