All deluxe versions delayed in Canada

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Thanks for the info. This may help with my decision on what format to buy. I wonder if all Canada, all record stores, will be delayed by 2 weeks. Seems like a big mistake.

This is strictly why I ordered from Amazon's USA site. Ever since the Bomb, all U2 boxset editions are made in the USA and are shipped in. This happened with Bomb, U218, and the Joshua Tree. The factory will meet the demand in the USA first and then ship to Canada. This is the way it has been for a few releases now. I didn't expect it any different this time around. My boxset should still take over a week to reach me (around the 13th), but it'll still beat the shelf date for the boxset in the shops by a week or two.

You would think that I would have learned from the past also but nope, I thought it would be different this time! Fuck this sucks!

I'm in the U.S. and I ordered from Amazon U.S. and it says its going to ship on the 9th!?!?!? Well, then the odds are good they'll lose my sale if I find a nice cheap deluxe copy on Monday!

I just called a friend of mine (she's in London right now, and saw the performance Friday night) and asked her to buy me the box set. She's back in Canada Monday, so now I'll have it a day early
:applaud:

Lame. This ALWAYS happens though, and I saw it coming a mile away. Live near the US border, so might just hop across the pond to pick up a delux copy!

That or just get the regular version.....hmmmm

Pain in the arse though

Same thing happened for Bomb and then the remasters and U218 and then Under a blood red sky... history repeats itself!

What's frustrating is that it's the super fans that penalized, you'd think we would be the first and best served! But no, we get to pay twice or wait longer!

I just ordered from Amazon.ca this afternoon, and they replied by email saying i should get it by March 5th.

I had first checked the Futureshop site, and they were saying delivery wouldn't be until after March 13th.

For the JT Box set, I ordered it from chapters.ca, because I had gift cards from there. This was a while after it was actually available here. They sent me an e-mail saying it would be delayed a few weeks, but I held on because of the gift cards. Then I called and was told it would be a few more weeks. After that time had passed, I called again and was told it was no longer available. By that time, I couldn't find it anywhere. I finally got a copy a year later for Christmas.

The title of this thread positions itself as factual when it is absolutely not. What I'm guessing happened is kgbodo saw the fine print in the BestBuy ad and then, out of the goodness of his/her heart, quickly jumped on the computer to break the news to all of us here on interference.

In other words, acted first, thought second.

Because, yes, as others have noted, most if not all of the other retail outlets are still holding March 3rd as the release/ship date for the deluxe sets.

I appreciate kgbodo's concern but there's no reason to yell "fire" just because you see smoke.

Of note, I worked for HMV for three years and I can tell you that they do not wait around for the American scraps. Their supply chain for Universal comes from Universal Canada and Universal Canada does not wait around for Universal USA to distribute it's products in order to operate as a business.

You're very right, I may have jumped the gun. But as I said in an earlier post, hmv being no exception, no u2 special edition package has been released on time since many years (in canada)!!! I mean even the boots single was delayed without notice! The historic evidence is overwhelming, I would very surprised to find a box set anywhere in canada on march 3rd!

HMV is where I buy all my stuff from...I actually drove 2.5hrs up to Edmonton for the midnight release of HTDAAB, and low and behold...No Deluxe version. They also didn't have the Deluxe version of The Joshua Tree when it was released. I'm talking about the biggest store in Alberta, the West Edmonton Mall one. Maybe it's different out east or something to that matter, but they have no extra pull from what I have seen in the past. If it's been delayed at Best Buy, then I know that it's been delayed at my HMV store also.

:angry:I think the same thing happened with Bomb deluxe edition at least here in Quebec, I never saw it.. so I decided to order from Amazon and a week later it was out

Well I will hold off and see what happens with this one...I am buying the regular cd for sure on Tuesday ..I am soooo excited!!!:hyper:

Every boxset from Bomb onwards is from Universal USA. Its right there in the fine print. There is no such thing as a Universal Canada made U2 boxset anymore. And considering the economy, there is no way Universal expanded its base of operations during this time to have a Canadian factory make U2 boxsets. Universal Canada does rely on Universal USA for these U2 boxsets.

I'll eat my toque if this release has a "made in Canada" label. (fuck! I shovelled today!)

Just spoke with someone at the HMV superstore in Toronto, said that some of the formats have been pushed back.. he wasn't sure which ones, they'll find out when the shipment arrives on monday, but im willing to bet its at least the deluxe box set.
