U2 on BBC Radio 5 Now

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

"I don't think magnificent can be described as Prog Rock" Bono

"They have long intros" Bono

"Well Prog is just one long intro" Adam

"It might be the best thing we've ever done, or so they tell us" Bono on Moment of Surrender

I'm enjoying this

Bono speaking about interactive album artwork ideas for the future in general, not necessarily U2's own albums.
Something about using videos, pictures to customize the artwork.

"Taking a picture from last night's Oasis gig and attaching it to the artwork" or something like that.

"Don't buy it. We have a new audience arriving every 5 years." about a fan feeling exploited by the remasters.

I've never felt exploited by the remasters.

I remember being 16 years old and saving up money to buy Boy, October and WAR back when CD's were a little over 20 dollars a piece.

I'm an adult with a job now.

yeah, i feel the same way. the better sound and possible unreleased tracks excite me too.

U2 18 singles was the only one i was annoyed about since they already had their best of collections which were very good

That was great, Simon actually putting some thorny issues to the guys and Bono holding his own.

Very surprised at Mark turning up, I felt sure he'd give the interview a very wide berth until his film review slot. I think he actually has a grudging respect for the guys.

The remasters are awesome that being said I would only wish the ratio of new material against re-releases would be different. This decade we've had three best ofs, 4 remasters and just 3 new albums. I'd be happier if it were say 2 new albums.

I have to say though the bonus material on the remasters has been quite good.

Luckily, the remasters so far have been good value. Perhaps War was the worst one and Joshua Tree the best one.

U218 at least came with a live DVD which was worth the money for fans.

I have to say the only time I've been really pissed off was with the Complete U2 "rare and unreleased" Itunes tracks, which I did not buy. It's good it's been put right by including these tracks in CD quality in the fanclub CD.

This. I'm disappointed it's taken 4.5 years to get to a fanclub CD, and even then, I don't want to pay $50 just for a CD - I've no interest in belonging to a fanclub run by the U2.com clowns.

I'm really happy about the remasters, though!

It's the first time I have joined, in order to be able to access the ticket pre-sale, so the CD is a nice bonus. But I agree, they should have done it earlier.

I only got to see them in the last tour through a fluke (someone told me that there was a nother batch of tickets to be put on sale for the London concert just a couple of months before the concert), so I thought I would try to increase my chances this time...

I still have bad memories of the US first leg presale, and although I did score some good tickets later on in the Aussie/Kiwi presale, I'm willing to brave the general sale this time around. I know enough people who are U2.com members that I can ask to grab an extra ticket for me in the presale if necessary anyway. I hope for everybody involved that it doesn't go to piss like it did back in early 2005.

(Plus I just think U2.com is an absolutely dismal, amateurish operation and I don't want to give them any of my money.)
