Renato! Good to see you, mate.

I've heard from a real tuf bono biographer that he's a lousy cook, and leaves that sort of putting small woodland creatures into pies thing to the lady. The evidence cannot be dismissed!

Good to see you too  I should come here earlier to catch you before you go!

Much respect for tuf bono.

Whoa, wait, guys.

DO YOU SEE THAT?!

And much respect to you, Bonnie. May your dreams be respectable!

Oh that sounds very tasty.

You should have bought my vote in the survivor thread with one of your muffins!

I have no morals and will always happily buy votes with muffins.

hey Axver, do you still have the consolidated spreadsheets of top superthread voters??? Did I move up the power ladder?

AHAHAHAHAH 200 POSTS I THINK THAT'S ONLY HAPPENED LIKE ONCE FOR ME BEFORE

great, great.

Okay, I'm out. Don't forget: respect!

I respect this achievement, Bonnaios.

Also, on an unrelated note, a tip for religious evangelists: appeals to logic and facts tend to put the ball in my court, but if you ever want to get me to ditch the atheism and BUHLEEVE, you would not go wrong by citing chocolate muffins as a gift from God.

Yes, indeed I do! I update it after each thread. As of the end of the last thread, you have climbed to 52nd place with 297 posts. This thread, once it's added, will probably only take you up one place, but then you will easily climb a few more soon, as there are four people between 352 and 359 posts, all of whom only drop in infrequently.

I can't say I'm an evangelist, but I wrote this down in case we engage in a religious discussion at some point and I find myself with no argument...

Thanks! It sure requires lots of posts! But anyway, I just started here!

Are we going to keep the superthreads in parallel with setlist parties during the tour?

I'm sure you'll find yourself in a religious discussion here sooner or later. U-Wen (major_panic) is a student of theology, while I consider myself an amateur theologian and one of my points of historical research is the social role of religion. I'm known for my atheism nowadays, but you may remember the "thank you for this wonderful post!" quote of mine in Bonnie's signature that dated from my teenage flirtation with the Christian religion ...

(I say "flirtation" as if to downplay it. Ashley's going to have a go at me as soon as she gets back, I just know it!)

If you want to talk lots of posts ... I have over 60,000 Superthread posts. :reject: We have two others past 20,000 (and Ashley will soon pass that mark too), a total of nine above 10,000, and 35 above 1,000.

Yeah, the Superthreads will definitely keep kicking. I may be in here more, we'll just see who shows up in the setlist parties. A more WTAHAN/PLEBA crowd could cause me to gravitate to here.

I'm looking forward to those discussions. I can't say I know much about religion, and while I'm a catholic, I very much like hearing an atheist's take on religion (Hitchens is one of my favorites). I actually get across a lot of religious issues at work frequently, particularly on discrimination based on religion, blasphemy issues, etc.

I can guess what your flirtation means! :) I was curious to know what Bonnie's signature was referring to, it surely makes sense now!

Yeah, that will take a long time (and I don't mean reaching your record!).

I thought the same about the setlist parties - if the current WTAHAN crowd is any indication, I much prefer spending my free time here! But I guess they were fun back in 2005, no? (I only lurked in there a few times).

If tuf bono were here, he'd be respecting these double choc muffins so much right now.

Oh man, right out of the oven. It's ... it's ... just like heaven.

Of course you're Catholic; you're Brazilian! (Or is that just a bullshit stereotype?) I am absolutely fascinated by the decline of religion in New Zealand. New Zealand society has typically been a harbinger of social change elsewhere, the most stunning example being giving women the vote first, and I look forward to developments in religion's place in global society over the next few decades. In 1900, over 95% of Kiwi society identified as Christian. When I was born in 1987, that still stood at 75%. Now? Christianity only just has over 50% adherence, "no religion" stands at 39%, and if current trends continue, Christianity will be a minority religion within a decade and "no religion" will be held by over 50% of the population within two decades.

There's a great early Superthread story about that post. Before this was even the Superthread, we roamed the forum resurrecting long-dead threads to chat in. One day, somebody dug up threads in The Goal Is Soul, one including "thank you for this wonderful post!" Everybody thought I was being sarcastic until I blurted out that no, I was dead serious. That's when people like Vazza and Ian discovered the secret that I was once Mr Religion.

Edit: I didn't mean that I "look forward" to developments in global religion in that I look forward to its demise or anything. Actually, I wasn't even thinking of my personal religious stance there. I just mean from a purely academic interest, I look forward to seeing if New Zealand is still a harbinger or not!

Ashley, I hate to say "I told you so", but ...

I TOLD YOU SO.

I thought we'd get to a new thread, but evidently not. I'm off to bed. If whoever's around needs location ideas: User:Axver/List - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They certainly had great moments in 2005. The static sets during much of the European leg meant we had to amuse ourselves in other ways and there was good comedy. On the second North American leg, timothius and I waged a hilarious "Wellington vs Auckland" battle that was my fondest Interference memory until the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and Superthreads. Unfortunately, timo seems to have vanished from the forum, but we're both Kiwis in Australia, except I'm from Wellington and he's from Auckland, so we had mock arguments about the better city that had me in stitches of laughter.

But I also remember some of the more bothersome moments, some of the stupid arguments, so we'll see what happens. It'd be silly to write the setlist parties off already, but I'm perhaps not as enthused about them as I thought I would be. Then again, as NLOTH draws closer, I've got more enthused about that, so maybe I'll get more enthused about setlist parties as the tour draws closer.

And this is goodnight from me. Respect to everybody!

Sorry about the delay, I was called in by my boss. Yep, it's a safe bet that a Brazilian will be a Catholic, though Catholicism has been declining quickly in the country (with people converting to Evangelical Churches). In addition, I'm confident that a large percentage of people who identify themselves as Catholics are just baptized and married in a Catholic church but don't really go to church every weekend or follow any other ritual. You can still see the big impact of religion on issues such as abortion, on the other hand.

Those are some pretty impressive stats about New Zealand, especially from 1987-present. I agree that it may be a good prognosis (if that word exists) of global trends. I would guess the situation in Europe is the same.

I think the interesting issue about the future of religion will be how countries with a majority of non-believers will deal with countries that are still deeply religious. Those tensions already exist to a large extent on issues like the ban on headscarves in France or the revision of blasphemy laws in the UK. While I don't really think international relations will ever be defined by religious differences, the impact on social interactions will be interesting!

I think we'll all be very enthusiastic about the setlist parties once the European tour starts.

If the rumours about the tour starting in Barcelona are right, I might be the person texting you with the live setlist, who knows.

Have a good one! Take care.
