Get On Your Boots Radio Campaign

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I've had 98.7 online streaming today. The same songs keep getting cycled :crack: But I did get to hear GYOB at least twice (rating online says 3.4 stars out of 5). I've heard Muse (Starlight) 3 times, Carolina Liar, Ludo, Incubus, Kings Of Leon, The Killers, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Coldplay, Green Day, ...
playlist here: 98.7 FM - LOS ANGELES / ORANGE COUNTY

You may have a point with that second sentence, but Perez Hilton does not get taken seriously. Just because a bunch of half-wits flock to his site to make nasty snark does not mean he is taken seriously.

The comments of a famewhore celebrity gossip are not a critical review from the press.

Someone who suggests that anyone should take a Perez Hilton article seriously has lost all credibility for me. Reality check, anyone?

I wouldn't worry about bad press. U2 get a lot of bad press in Ireland, naturally, still I don't think their music will flop there. Europeans are a lot less impressed by what the media says than Americans, thank God.

U2 on Trent FM

My local radio station Trent FM (which is in Nottingham, UK) played Get On Your Boots last monday just once and I've not heard it since then. I listen to the station at work for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (no choice) and all they do is play the same crap 3 times a day (Take That, Leona Lewis, Alexandra whatshername from X-Factor, Akon, Katy Perry etc). The only decent stuff they play are Coldplay, Kings of Leon, and The Killers.

I would love everyone on this forum to go their website, thats Trent FM: Your Hit Music Station and go to the contact page and ask to play the U2 song more often. Because to save my sanity it would be great to hear it more often at work. Thanks.

It's #10 on this USA Today listing (alternative)

98.7 FM - LOS ANGELES / ORANGE COUNTY

On that 98.7 I've been listening to (with the same playlist repeatedly :crack: ), it seems to have moved up to #6 on their playlist  Trying another station tomorrow, 100.3 (actually have 2 on simultaneously to see who has better music)

It's actually #2 on the Adult Rock list

Hot AC (hot adult contemporary): #36 (first week on chart) (a decent debut for any song on this chart)

Active Rock: #34 (first week on chart) (a decent debut)

Rock: #8 (first week on chart) (a very strong debut)

go sexy boots!

Speaking from a UK perspective

It is highly unlikely that requesting a song is likely to get you anywhere, unless it is already on their playlist. And even if it is, most stations (someone mentioned Trent FM earlier, for example) Have a strict rotation of records and when they are played.

More often than not, presenter and producers do not choose when the records will be played, That is all pre-set by playlist software.

At best , you'll request it, when it's already on the playlist, and the presenter will mention your name when they play it.

Trust me, stations pay a lot of money to have a computer pick music that is targetted specifically at their audience, it can even choose when in the hour a certain song, with a certain number of beats per minute needs to be played.

 I wish my local stations played good stuff! I hardly bother with the radio anymore because all they play is Nickelback and American Idol contestants. I bet they haven't even been playing GOYB.

EDIT: I just checked a local station's site, and GOYB is not on their playlist and is not listed under "New Music," either!

To be honest, one of the stations I was listening to only played about 5 of those songs on the list you quoted, Rachel: U2, The Fray, The Killers, Kings of Leon and Coldplay. I haven't heard any of the others on that particular station (98.7). 100.3 has been playing a much wider list of old & new, so I go back & forth between them during the day.

It appears Kansas City's 96.5 The Buzz dropped Boots less than a week after it being released. The played it heavily on the 19th and 20th and progressively weeded it out as each day passed. Maybe I'm just listening to it at the wrong times, but I hear the other top 20 stuff everytime I listen.

Mix 93.3 has finally picked up the single, which makes me happy. They initially told me they probably would not, but it's great to see that they are.

105.1 Jack FM is still playing it. (Frankly, I think that's the best station because it doesn't play crap music like Fuel and Hoobastank.

This is like a thread you would read on a Duran Duran message board. "Please play our favorite band's new song!" Pathetic, really...that it is now happening at a U2 message board.

Why is it pathetic?

I don't see whats so pathetic about a bunch of excited fans wanting to have a song they love being played on the radio.

That kind of thing has been happening for years on radio stations around the world.

Do you think this is something new? Are fans not allowed to come on to this board and share their glee?

What's truly pathetic is when people mock or berate others for expressing their excitement over something just because THEY think its "uncool" or "pathetic"

I only listen in the car on my way to and from work. That's good to know though!!

btw, how do you get your radio to signal? Is it a car radio?

No it's a car/home unit that I can hook up to the car radio I put it on 88.1 frequency...the first time I heard a U2 song on any of the channels I hit menu on my remote and put it on the favorites list(song/artist)

If you guys are talking about satelite radio then you should spend a few extra bucks and get the suped up antenna that they sell and a home doc and listen at home. The reception is better than that crappy flat antenna that they give you.

BTW, Ramblin Rose, I heard GOYB on Alt Nation last night for the first time. Looks like its officially in the rotation then.

Mine is a built in Car Unit that came with the car. I was going to buy a thing for my xm ready home receiver but I think I would have to pay for an additional subscription and didn't think it was worth it.

btw, I signed up for the program director thing on xm radio where you can rate the songs they play and included a thing about not playing enough U2/Pearl Jam on the new Alt Nation at the end of the survey where you could put written comments.

UHHHHHH! That sucks.

My Sirius unit detached from the car and I can bring it in the house and doc it there. Those things are a dime a dozen. You can call to the company and see if they'll give you a refurbished unit for the house and save money that way. Its so much better to hear it at home on my stereo system...especially when my fiance and I are doing housework or having dinner. One of our favorite channels is the jazz channel. Good stuff.

My friend who lives in Chicago told me he e-mailed the alternative station there 101 something because he heard the song at first..but then didn't hear it...he got back an e-mail from the program director saying they got a "large amount of negative feeback last week when we did play it" and since they value everybody's input they decided to pull the song for the time being

My question is ...they did really get "a large amount of negative feedback when it was played"???...I'm calling bullshit on that one:hmm:

I have the home docking station...what suped up antenna do have Power Surge?

check here....good link to go to. I've got one of the earlier versions, cost me about $50. They've got some really really suped up stuff for over $100...though I'm not sure if you really need it unless you are in a really tough signal area. But if you like listening to satelite radio at home its a must have. I have it attached to my DirecTV dish and it runs into the home through the wall. Let me know what you think (DISCLAIMER - I have no affiliation with the site or get anything for sending people there, its just one I go to personally...so don't yell at me if their service sucks :reject: ) :)
