I know there has been tons of speculation and hopeful wishing for a double album or perhaps another album mid tour or maybe an album with more than the standard 11 song total (perhaps14-15).

I for one am not expecting anything other than an 11 song album but just today I read (forget which article, maybe Q) where Bono stated how NLOTH is a LONG album. I have read all the threads regarding this and didn't think much of it until I went back and watched the short U2.clips again.

Did anyone else notice what the EDGE says at the very end of the clip entitled "edgedrumming"? He says, "so how long is this album?"

I found this very curious to coincide with Bono's comment.

Anybody else find this intriguing?

Anybody find any other possible hints in any of those clips?
ex. clip "seaandsky" obviously a refrence to NLOTH:hmm:

That is a good observation. But despite that, everything else seems points to a regular 1-disc album. And, like others have said, I'd much, much rather have 11 (or even just 10) extraordinary and coherent songs than 15+ mediocre ones. Hopefully there will be more quality B-sides this time around, tho (or heck just more B-sides in general). Either way I cannot wait!

I definitely don't see a double album but to me it seems obvious that they are HINTING at something special regarding the length. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!!!!

Everything you know is wrong.

I think it's fun to try and "decipher" these videos, but honestly there's no hidden meanings, those who try and find some Da Vinci Code like message in them will be hugely disappointed...

So than what was the clip "seaandsky" ... just a boring 2 minute clip of tiny waves crashing along the shore?

Remember, NLOTH wasn't officially announced when that clip was released. That clip confirmed with out a doubt the name of the next album.

Ohh, and don't worry, I'm not trying to play Indiana Jones but thanks for your concern!!! Besides, there's more to life than being "hugely disappointed" over such things. Speaking of Hints...GET A CLUE!!!!!:hyper:

Well we already had a clip of a Bono interview telling us where the title of the song came from, that video was just there to cement the visual...

I wasn't being rude, I was just trying to say that I don't think these videos are designed to be anything more than a teaser... It's just not U2's nature.

Yes, title of a SONG, not ALBUM...that clip was the first confirmation of the album name and it came by way of a hint, clue, teaser or whatever the hell you want to call it.

Thats your opinion.

Uh, yes, hence the phrase "I think", I never tried to sell this as fact.

MY OPINION is that there just isn't much to read from these videos, they are just teasers, that's it. U2 isn't the type of band that creates some type of code or secret messages to tell us what to expect... so I'd be suprised if they started now.

Well actually there was already A LOT of talk about that being the title before that video...

But you're right to some it could have been a clue or confirmation...

This is the first time U2 have made these clips prior to a release of an album, and personally i think the whole idea was to provide some clues to fans as to what to expect. How do you know U2 arent the kind of band to provide clues re the album, when the clips are a totally new way of marketing (i.e. creating hype) for the new album....

I don't know, that's why I stated very clearly that it's my opinion. My whole point is that I think they are giving us little teasers, and even a few little tastes of the album, but I DON'T THINK they are giving us any kind of secret hints or clues of the final album.

Given what we know(IT SEEMS), most of these videos were filmed before the "rethink" of the album.

I agree with this. The band seems very much about finding new and creative formats and methods, tools, content, etc. right now, so it would be consistent. And what would've been the point of doing them at all if they were completely worthless? Really, I think it would be more surprising if there weren't some clues or hints hidden within all the nonsense. I would find that much less U2's style to take the trouble of filming all those things if they were just piles of meaningless rubbish.

They may have been filmed prior to the "rethink" (this will need an explanation from you) but some were posted after the "rethink". And since the clips are sensitive info they would have required the consent of the band to post them on u2.com. As such, i dont think the band would post those items to misguide fans, and therefore the clips would still retain relevant info for fans and clues relating to NLOTH.

whats interesting as well is that in some of the clips you can see another camera man - does that mean we might get a "making of" with the cd?

I'm sorry, but you are taking this way too far with this BS about "secret codes" or "secret messages". Damn, all I was saying was that I found it interesting that both BONO and EDGE have now commented on how LONG this album is and am wondering if anyone else noticed anything else intriguing in those clips that might have gone unnoticed otherwise.

Wow, the word "HINT" in this thread really screwed things up for you... all of a sudden I'm Tom Fucking Hanks in the Da Vinvci Code!!!!!:hyper:

What is your problem? All he was saying is that if one looks TOO hard for stuff, reads too deeply into it, it's likely they'll just end up disappointed.

I have no problem, thanks for asking. However, this thread wasn't about decoding any mystery or secretive info about the album disguised to trick their fans.

Bottom line is that we'll just have to wait and see...can't wait!!!

PS - Don't quit your day job.

I wondered the same thing when I saw that clip a month or so ago; I was hoping it wasn't just The Edge making an unrelated joke/insult. If Bono says it's a very long album, that's good enough for me. It will be over 50 minutes or however long the last 2 were. That has me excited. If it's over 70 minutes, that'll be awesome.

I think if anything, the clips show how likely it is that this will be a single album. There are actually very few songs represented among all those videos. Off the top of my head, I'd guess about 5. U2 has been working hard on the songs they think are the best. One album's worth.

I agree with you here. U2 just are not the types to do this kind of stuff. It's fun to speculate but I would read into any of these video clips as anything more than what you see and hear.
