The Cubs met Ryan Madson last night. A summary of the continued torture of Phillies fans.

Everytime he comes into a close game, I shudder.

Durbin is generally a good pitcher, though he's been overused.

And GAF, Utley has no shot at the MVP. He had two weak months in June and July, hitting about .250 for those two months.

I don't know, it's so wide open right now I think he does have a shot if the Phils make the playoffs and if he has a hell of a month.

There's a lot of "ifs" in that statement, but you know what I mean...

It's anybody's ballgame!

September

"The Phils have a five game lead in the division right now if I'm managing this team." - THE EXCEPTION, in the middle of his rant about why Charlie Manuel lost the game last night.

And I agree with him.

Fuckin Daisuke. With his crazy "hump the air" motion and his Japanese breaking balls and shit. Don't you guys know that we can only hit American and Latin-American pitching? It's unfair. We are allergic to Japanese pitching. Especially Jim Thome.

This Cubs-Phils series is making me pull my hair out because of Thursday night's game, when the Phils should have won, and because of Friday afternoon's game when the Phils blew a chance to steal a win on the Harden-Blanton matchup.

Who else is about to watch the White Sox play the Red Sox on this lovely Sunday afternoon?

I sure as hell am. The Big G is about to break you fuckers off.

I don't think I've heard a more annoying home run call than "You can put it on the board ... yes!"

Big Bad Bobby Jenks. Big win. Big game. Big late-inning hit by Crede. Big Papi is a Big Bitch. Big 6 2/3 innings from the Big G Floyd. Big smile on my face.

yes, but as we all know, lidge is one bad blown save away from falling apart mitch williams style.

do the phillies play the cardinals in september?

anyhoo... this is what i don't get. major league baseball knew full well that the NL East would likely come down to the mets and phillies again, and they also have to know how much of a rivalry it's become... yet how is it that the schedulemakers have them playing each other for the final time in the first weekend of september, and only one series in september at that.

I can live with the Cubs splittng the series against Philly, assuming the Mets can rough up the Brewers for at least 2 games.

And of course, the Brewers have a 4 game series IN Philly next month too, which is going to be brutal. I have much more confidence in the Cubs at Shea.

Please don't mention Mitch Williams.

I don't understand that either. I was looking forward to seeing some Mets-Phillies series in mid to late September until I found out there were none.

You should be breathing easy. The Phillies should have won the first two as well as the last two, especially the first one.

I am not a fan of Ryan Madson.

Strange about that scheduling, because the Cubs and Brewers have two series together in September. I don't know why they assumed the Mets/Phillies rivalry wouldn't be applicable this season too.
