The weekend of the 15th-16th-17th I will be seeing the Finn Brothers at the Sydney Opera House :hyper:.' That will be amazing (and expensive) but still they are my "U2" and they rotate setlists from 33 years worth of back catalogue so   . The next weekend I'm seeing Shihad (very, very good back catalogue but there new album sucks amazingly) at some rinky-dink little club a lot closer to home. Then I not a great deal until U2 or C:censored:y decide to pay us a visit. Whoever does first is cooler. I will probably die without seeing U2 I suspect. :sigh:

That attitude ends now! :shame: U2 better make it down to Australia/New Zealand.

Wow. You'll be seeing them three days in a row? (I'm just drooling at the thought of seeing my favorite musicians three days in a row as I've yet to hear anything the Finn brothers have ever recorded :p)

Shihad, huh? My friend in New Zealand included them on one of the two New Zealand music compilations she sent me 2 years ago (which I still haven't listened to :reject: ). Are you familiar with The Feelers? I keep meaning to check them out; they're her favorite band after U2.

 hi tim-tam

yes i don't like it at all :tsk:

we were going to do some more unpacking tomorrow, go to the movies, mayhaps the mall...looks like that's not going to happen.

there's not that much left in the apartment (we seriously just ran out of room in the car) so i'm hoping this time we really won't be over there but for like...i dunno, an hour? i mean seriously how long does it take to pack up a few things that are on the kitchen counter and mop a floor?

 Sorry for the negative attidude it must be the C:censored:y talking. They'll play Australia I believe - although I'm really doubting my ability to get tickets at a reasonable price for multiple dates.

The Finn Brothers are Tim & Neil Finn. They both played in Split Enz (Electica for the first 2 albums, Nu-Wave Pop thereafter)1972-84 14 albums), Neil was in Crowded House 1986-96 (Rock & Lyrical Brilliance) (5 albums). They both have solo careers Neil's (3 albums), Tim's somewhere around 7 or 8. You know Crowded House, they make you vomit.

I'd be interested to see what he/she sent you of theres. There is a song of theres called Home Again which is just  . Anything off General Electric or Pacifier is brilliant too. They are an epic live act.

The Feelers are good too, but they are no Shihad. I must share a bit of vision of a few of these - you may be more likely to watch a clip or two of them rather than listen to a whole album.

Here's a tracklisting of both CDs :hyper:

I hope I haven't butchered the names of any of these artists. Her handwriting is a bit difficult to read.

New Zealand Compilation #1
Che Hu - Misty Frequencies
Betchadupa - Supa Day
Stellar - Part of Me
Pacifier - Everything
Betchadupa - Life Will Be The Same
Che Fu - Sleepy News
Shihad - Pacifier
Stellar - Violent
Goodshirt - Place to Be
Shihad - Home Again
Stellar - Every Girl
Stellar - What You Do (Bastard)
Pacifier - Run
Stellar - Taken
Breathe - Don't Stop the Revolution

New Zealand Compilation #2
Nesian Mystik - It's On
Nesian Mystik - Nesian Style
OMC - Land of Plenty
K'Lee - Can You Feel Me
True Bliss - Tonight
Patea Maon Club - Poi E
The Feelers - Venus
OMC - How Bizarre
Sisters Underground - In the Neighbourhood
Sam Hunt - Your Body
Split Enz - History Never Repeats
Split Enz - I See Red
Split Enz - I Got You
Split Enz - Six Months in a Leaky Boat
The Swingers - Counting the BEat
Th' Dudes - Bliss
Blam Blam Blam - There is no Depression in New Zealand
Dragon - April Sun in Cuba
Headband - Good Morning Mr. Rock n Roll
OMC take-off - Stole My Car

So, do these mixes suck or are they worth listening to? :hmm:

They actually have a broader NZ musical taste than I. I've never really delved into Stellar*'s catalogue for example. Although I've been reccomended them around 100 times.

The ones I would reccomend are

The Split Enz Run..
Betchadupa (Neil Finn's son's band  )
Shihad/Pacifier (They are the same band)
The Swingers - Counting The Beat is amongst my 5 favourite songs of all time - it's fucking brilliant.

Otherwise . OMC was very good for 1996 - but watching the film clip the other day How Bizzare is very uh... bizzare - but catchy.

You will like Shihad/Pacifier the most I thinks

[nosey] Whats the countdown? [/nosey]

Khanada in general moving sucks. Movies are cool go there instead.
that's not being nosey. being nosey would be asking me something like what colour knickers am i wearing.

anyway, the countdown is for when i get to see duran duran in nashville. i also get to see them the very next day right here in my own town*! the first time EVER they've played here. seriously, ever! not even in the 80s or 90s did they ever come here, i checked.

* i would not consider where i live to be my hometown, just my town, or where i live. i wasn't born or raised here, i just learned to become bitchy and bitter here

Did you see them on Live8... they played Wild Boys. Wild Boys . Are you like besotted with Simon Le Bon? Thought So.

Oh, so Stellar is supposed to have the asterisk at the end of their name! I kept looking for a side note at the bottom of this tracklisting page I'm looking at.

:lmao:

I thought they were some sort of pop idol girl band or somthing. That has tarnished them for me (seriously). I have these stupid hang ups on bands that stop me from getting into a lot of good music.

I hated Coldplay for 2 years because Shane Warne used them as his intro music. :reject:

What color are your knickers, Koowanda? :hyper:
lime green with lemon wedges on them

Tim-Tam, are you familiar with Christchurch artists? I have a compilation of Christchurch music too :hyper:

Christchurch? :madspit:  (Sorry petty provincialism there)

I'm not really up with the whole Christchurch scene being a mainlander myself (and living in a whole other country). Probably not:( . Cantabrians (people from Xchurch) cannot be trusted. :D

But I would be keen to know what you're thoughts on S/P are.

Good. I would find any Simon love kind of bemusing.

Nothing... nothing at all.

Is you''re friend a Cantab?

If so... :lmao:, and secondly... what kind of friend would disregard another friends carefully made musical compilations (and steal other friends CDs). :D

:hyper:

Yes. She's been in England/Ireland the past month attending 8 U2 shows.

I just haven't had the motivation to pull out the CDs and listen to them. ...And I've never stolen anything!
