Help with Winzip!!!

I @&#*#^$&$*#$# my computer sometimes, I wish it could talk to me.
I need help from someone...
I heard there was a free version of Winzip out there for download. I went to winzip.com, looked all over for this "free version", but I never could find it. So I decided to download the one you could use for a three week period. No problems, except now that time is up, and I don't know what kind of "trouble" I can get into if I don't spend the $49 or whatever it is for the program.
So, my question...
If you have winzip, and have the "free version" my friends told me about, where can I get it?
Is there another program that will do the same?
I found the "free upgrade", but you have to already be registered with a winzip version you bought.

I have never had any problems from Winzip just downloading the trial version as I needed it.
