This afternoon sees the long awaited showdown betwen Ireland and England at Twickenham. England are last year's Grand Slam winners and current Rugby World Cup Champions. Last year in Lansdowne Road, England hammered the Irish, winning the Grand Slam in the process. The score then was 42-6.

The pressure has to be on England for it is their first game at Headquarters since winning the World Cup and the Irish pack that face them can face immortality in sporting history by being the first team to beat them.

Not being overly bias but "Comon Ireland!!" Care to add your support....to either side????

ENGLAND v IRELAND MATCH FACTS

The countries have met on 116 occasions - England lead the series 69-39, with eight draws.

England's record win was a 46-6 triumph at Lansdowne Road in 1997, while Ireland boast a best of 22-0 (Dublin, 1947).

Ireland have not beaten England at Twickenham since 1994, when Simon Geoghegan's try helped clinch a 13-12 verdict.

England centre Will Greenwood will win his 50th cap on Saturday. He also needs one touchdown to overtake Jeremy Guscott as England's second-highest Test try scorer.

Ireland number eight Anthony Foley will also reach the half-century landmark this weekend.

England fly-half Paul Grayson needs just five points to pass Rob Andrew (396) as his country's second-highest international points scorer.

England have won their last 22 Test matches at Twickenham. It is a sequence that stretches back to the 1999 World Cup, when New Zealand beat them 30-16.

England have not lost a Five or Six Nations game at Twickenham since 1997, when France recorded a 23-20 triumph.

England's last defeat - home or away - in the Six Nations Championship, was against France in Paris two years ago.

An Ireland victory at Twickenham would leave them needing to beat Scotland on March 27 to secure a first Triple Crown since 1985.

May the best team win.
